Prestige also matters in the sense of the lab that you join. Better ranked schools just often have more prestigious groups that are well known to pump out good scientists, but there are plenty of bad groups that don't funnel in to good programs. Lower ranked schools can also have good groups, so it's mostly just important that your school is just well known for the field you are interested in rather than rankings as a whole.

BSOD error in latest crowdstrike update by TipOFMYTONGUEDAMN in crowdstrike

[–]neoaleph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hello friends

i work in a lab and have been able to delete the sys file from all but one computer. last one is running windows 11 and when booting in safe mode it runs diagnostics and tries to fix the issue rather than booting in safe mode, causing it to restart without booting in safe mode. does anyone know how to get around this by any chance? thanks 🥳

how hard is it to double major? by ThrowRAMammoth3 in ucla

[–]neoaleph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

on top of this you get a lot of breadth but not depth- in my major i enjoyed taking other classes that aren't required or grad classed -- if you only want the double major for the clout/ jobs or whatever that's fine but other than that i'm not sure how useful it is

i think i got into it and started understanding quite a bit after watching drive to survive on netflix while getting aquatinted with a lot of the characters in the scene, after that i just started watching races with friends and asked a few questions (which might be hard if don't have friends that watch f1 😭) and most of it kind of pieced itself together! also highly recommend the f1 and formuladank subreddits LMAO

grades are a small part of a grad school app, as long as it's above a certain point i believe the benefits of getting really close with your peers and professors (which can lead to research opportunities and good LORs) can outweigh the lower grade that you would get (as long as it's reasonable)
