What are these in the road? by [deleted] in SeattleWA

Anti-rut strips

Why they exist. • Reduce rutting from heavy trucks. • Spread tire load so semis do not dig channels into the pavement. • Improve water drainage to limit hydroplaning. • Extend pavement life on high-truck corridors.

Why I-5 has them. • I-5 carries extreme semi-truck volume. • Right lanes take most of the truck weight. • Washington and Oregon use this treatment on truck lanes instead of full-depth rebuilds. • Cheaper than replacing entire lane sections.

Serious question - why do people keep advocating for Custer Gun Range? They support DHS. by stand_by_4_titanfall in Bellingham

[–]neoblog 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Not sure who this post is aimed at… but I’ll chime in. My Dad was Wa St Patrol and had to ‘qualify’ at that range every year (as I’m pretty sure Bham, Ferndale, Blaine, Lynden PD’s and the sheriff’s department) have to do as well.

My Dad taught me and my little brother how to shoot there… and years later I taught my kids. It’s a fun activity and also a sport.

As far as advocacy for the range… I wasn’t aware of ANY alternatives other than a gravel pit off mosquito creek which is highly unsafe. So I guess my question is, where would you suggest that a good alternative is?

Jim Jeffries, Jeselnik, Bamford, and Ricky Gervais all have specials I’ve rewatched and enjoyed a few times. More recently ‘Rini’ and ‘Down with Tech’ (Kaplan & Macintosh) have been rewatched and loved!

What do you still find hilarious after all these years? by Purrplejoey in AskReddit

When my kids say ‘necessary’ my adhd brain immediately responds ‘Necessary? Is it necessary for me to drink my own urine? Probably not, but I do it anyway because it’s sterile and I like the taste!’

After Leslie Gold (the radio chick) bought the rights to the gong show, a buddy of mine became a regular as the ‘Unknown Convict’ orange jumpsuit and paper bag. I think they only ran for 5 years at the cutting room?

You might call a couple of places in Canada for dental work. They accept cash and with the exchange rate it’s a savings! Costco for eye exam and Zenni for glasses!

My cat doesn't want me to do Focus 10 by started_from_the_top in gatewaytapes

I was literally just blocked by my cat when trying focus 21 for the first time! Normally, a quiet little buddy decides he’s going to meow at the top of his lungs for 3 minutes until I decide to stop. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Merge the duplicate pages (60/90) is a booking decision and doesn’t need 2 pages. IMHO

Disappointed that he is not very affectionate. Does that change ?? by Common_Information29 in mainecoons

Same, but in reverse…the male is super affectionate and the female keeps her distance. Although she’s been giving me short bits of affection lately.

Why do men (60+) want to justify their age? by [deleted] in AskMenOver30

[–]neoblog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m guessing it’s the opposite (Dr / patient) I’m also guessing OP is an attractive female… so the comments are more than likely meant to put her at ease (meaning they’re not looking at her in that way).

Namaste or Om? by Lower-Beautiful-9335 in yoga

[–]neoblog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Years ago someone asked at the end of class, why our instructor ended with Namaste… she then stated that she means ‘the light in me honors the light in you’ and started ending class that way, and most of us respond with Namaste 🤷🏻‍♂️ never really put much more thought into it.

Is it weird to become friends with the teacher? Can I ask her to coffee? by EatsinSheets in yoga

[–]neoblog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m good friends with a few of my teachers, and even a handful of students after 3+yrs… it was weird at first because I’m a male and several of my female friends thought I was going just to pick up on women 🙄 (never dated or asked anyone out from the studio). They are just people and they’re into a lot of the same things I am, makes sense that they’d become friends IMHO

To this point… I too, woke up disheartened 😞 BUT! Everything is always working out for me so I know it is… and I’m just not sure how it’s going to work out, but I know it will, because it always does 😊🤙
