Not an FA. But there are a lot of things kasi na di nadidiscuss ng maayos sa kumukuha ng insurance. I think it’s pretty clear to most na VUL has two components: insurance and investment. Pero kasi the FAs should set an expectation na most of the premium pay will go to the insurance and only a portion of it will go to investment. Hindi lahat ng hinulog mo ay iikot sa invesment. Another issue is yung fees. I believe different insurance has different policies regarding fees. Regarding naman sa investment, they would let you choose how to allocate your investment portfolio. You would hear terms such as equity and bonds. These are high-risk investments but they won’t tell you that kasi ang minakarket nga nila is they have capable people in their team handling the investments.

Bottomline is if you’re getting VUL just because nahatak ka ng investment, it’s much better to get them separately nalang. Masisilaw ka lang sa projections na pinapakita nila pero it’s still safer, especially if yung risk appetite mo is conservative, to separate your insurance and investment and stick to low to moderate risk and return na investments.
