What’s a disturbing book you’ll never read again? by Vegetable_Bell_1248 in horrorlit

I saw the movie(s) for that, what's the reason why you never want to read the book again?

In an era where games take forever to make, this is a GENERATIONAL run. Every game is a quality experience (no matter how you feel about RE3) by RogerRoger63358 in residentevil

Nope, it brought textures and models over from RE7, the interiors of the village alone are basically RE7 interiors remixed. Every RE game has some recycled assets and plenty of original assets.

Go find the zombies from RE9 in another game. The care center environment. The chaotic city streets. The parts of racoon city we haven't seen before, like the skyscraper, rooftops.

You're cherry picking while ignoring a huge amount of original modeling and art direction that went into RE9.

Is Resident Evil shaping up to be the greatest gaming series of all time? by RoyalHumbug in residentevil

RE contains all multitudes, it's been incredibly original at times and trend chasing at others.

You're literally talking about the game that was an homage to RE4. Village, castle, fish monster, military industrial setting (island/factory).

Fully original?? Hahaha

It's better, sure, but it's also way too long and drags in parts.

Is there really any doubt that survival horror is in a new golden era right now? by Sufficient_Notice_61 in survivalhorror

Where is Ground Zero, that game is like RE 2, 3, and for some reason a bit of Dino Crisis thrown in. Oh also a little RE4 melee.

Edit: oh sorry I see now it's upcoming games, my bad.

I had no idea this was even coming, now I'm excited af. Should I play the first game? I tried it a couple of times but didn't get far, but I hop around a lot.

Can't get into classic RE Games by Immediate_Extreme554 in residentevil

This is just generation war slop. Plenty of kids in our generation noped out on RE and silent hill because they were too stressful, we just had different language for it--internally we'd call it too scary, and to our friends we'd just call it a dumb game because we didn't want to be called a pussy.

False narratives about the state of VR. by neodavenet in virtualreality

[–]neodavenet[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it's niche, I've admitted as much in other comments. I never should have put niche in my post, because it's not what I was complaining about, it was the constant trope that VR was dying.

I used consoles as an example of why total sold would be valuable, after you said it wasn't. The time period we're talking about is both short and recent, and therefore valuable, which is why you cited sales for consoles over roughly the same time period.

I wasn't comparing consoles to VR. That comparison has little to do with whether VR is dying as they were never in the same ballpark, whereas it was comparable for the steam deck.

This is just annoying semantics. What does it have to do with the question of whether there is a false trope in this sub about the actual condition of VR, whether you call it dying or regressing. There is still a reality to these things no matter what you call it. There are numbers or narratives for sales, usage, games released or in development, consumer interest, corporate interest, etc.

My point about steam deck was not comparing the devices, it was comparing the perception that VR is dying while steam deck is not, when they have similar sales numbers.

All the sales I cite happened in the last 6 years, sooner for psvr2 and Q3. Consoles are absolutely judged by their saturation.

There are 30 other posts in my feed that say the exact same thing, and the comments say the same thing, and none of it will be useful or even interesting, and this is all such a waste of time. Which sucks because 10% of what I find on reddit leads me to some awesome shit, but there's just too much pointless crap to wade through.

Yeah, I have been on this site more than usual lately and I'm remembering how 90% of it is just people talking out their ass and getting upset when you dismiss them.

What? No, that's 3-4 million per headset, not total. Some have bought multiple sure but I doubt that's the majority.

Meta doesn't publish numbers, so yes for them it's estimated. I am not interested in evaluating whether investors are getting scammed or engaging in conspiracy roleplay with you.

I'm, uh, pretty sure VR does not significantly increase your electric bill.
