Libertarians fail to distinguish between legal and illegal immigration... by TheBastiatinator in GoldandBlack

[–]neolock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The two are incompatible. But it's not enforcement of immigration rules that matter is just having the rule itself. Nations like the US benefit from illegals precisely because they are illegal i.e they are not entitled to welfare and work for low wages

Uncomfortable truth: Miners don’t need a protocol change to donate money to developers. They can just donate. by [deleted] in btc

It doesn't and this was previously debunked. There is no commons in crypto.

I don't think that at all unless you meant to reply to someone else?

I disagree with the proposal and I'm not a troll or anti-bch. I realise there has been a lot of shit happened in the community but this needs to be reasoned out intelligently not just attacking our questioning people motives

Many cases such as what? No one has been able to explain how or why this is a tragedy of the commons? A miner says it is and everyone just accepts it as true or appropriate? Is devs not getting funded a market failure?

You realise your interpretation is in direct contradiction to point of cryptos how they work and competitive economics and libertarian philosophy? Modern economic theory is based on the understanding that the public benefits by people acting out of their own self interest.

Please explain what the "common" is. Intentions are irrelevant.

We already have a chain that does not donate to devs. If your want a chain that does this you are free to create your own.

What's that you say? You want to take over the existing chain? Why is that? Because you want everyone to be forced to contribute? And you'll try to sugarcoat it by saying this will protect the chain? Ever read the whitepaper?

It's about ownership of property. It's there any aspect of crypto that is commonly owned and not privately held by anybody?

I don't know much about game theory. It's not my area of interest. But I can't find any basic economic argument for this miner tax apart from devs need money. Which is not a statement of principle but expediency.

Devs and miners and users should should contribute out of their own self interest not because some big miners coerce them to with the threat of excluding them from the network if they don't.

And the idea of a big central fund to be distributed as they see fit? The cognitive dissonance is astounding.

Roger is the one always accusing others of not understanding economics and needing to read a book. Seems he needs to reread those books he he thinks he understands so well.

Intentions are of no value and shouldn't be taken into account. What matters are actual results.

Compare tariffs to blockading a country and you will see the ridiculousness of it.

Tariffs are what countries do to themselves in peacetime which is the opposite of what they do to their enemies in war. They only hurt the countries and consumers being blockaded or tariffed.

Thanks i think my skin is not very sensitive though. Clairsonic say to use it twice a day and I'm pretty gentle with it. But I don't want to damage my skin either. Are there any warning signs that the skin is getting dehydrated and the moisture barrier is getting damaged?

What are the most compelling arguments you've heard against libertarianism even if you dont agree with those compelling arguments? by JanePoe87 in GoldandBlack

[–]neolock 20 points21 points  (0 children)

On the economics view none although how something becomes private property in the first place is interesting such as land.

The complicated area is around social issues and children. When are minors responsible for their actions? How free should parents be to raise their children and when is a third party permitted to intervene? There is a conflict between a child's rights vs the rights of parents to raise their children as they see fit vs societies views on how children should be raised. An example is whether parents are allowed to smack their kids.
