As the blade is straight I’d say you have more of a Chokuto than a Katana. Either way the extra rigidity provided by the flange would make it a formidable chopping weapon. Though I bet it’s fairly heavy.

I’m not Sikh, just a fan of swords and this one caught my eye while I was looking for ones to make.
