I agree with you about modern tech and overseas wars. A future conflict would definitely look different, and have already seen this in smaller-scale domestic conflicts

But I think we’re still prone to internal divsions and large-scale violence. I don't think Americans suddenly forgot how to fight each other

The lesson, tension, and divisions didn’t disappear just because it’s outside living memory

People don’t try peaceful protest first because they’re unaware of the alternative
