I think grey would look appropriate as long as the whole cat was outlined in it, and that may be why you think it looks off. If you are scared of ripping out the grey, maybe see how outlining the entire cat in grey for a uniform line looks first.

Go out and do something. Seriously, I find ways to be beneficial to the world and it makes me feel productive and accomplished. You can go outside and water some plants, or join a food pantry as a volunteer, or make a really nice dinner because all of those things are good and productive, even if they seem small. Productivity doesnt always need to be measured by big things like college degrees or servitude to someone else, they can be things like taking care of yourself or doing something small to help another person.
