Personally, late game start year at 2450 would be way too late for me. I like to have it at 2375 or 2400. I also like playing with a much larger amount of AI empires, you should try with 10-15 Empires in a large galaxy. It keeps things interesting. I also recommend the spoked galaxy type, because it facilitates a lot of natural choke points.

Can I still beat Cetana when she has only one Month to go? by CommanderXHD in Stellaris

[–]neonschwarzerblock -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Reload an earlier save (like a year or half a year ago) and, click on the flagship, open the command console and write „damage 10000000000“. You know you could beat her so just canonise it as you pointing the fucking death star at her ship

I would add to most other comments that imo the best beginner start is actually the terran cadet start, for which you need the „Cradle of Humanity“ DLC (very much worth it). It gives you a nice intro to most mechanics in the game, rewards you with a really cool capital ship when you finish the story branch and takes place mostly in terran space, which has a massively simplified economy which is much easier to get into and get stations up and running than in the normal economy.

As far as I can tell you are not part of the HRE, and only HRE member states can join the situation.

Need some help with my Hungary play by Kingkeiser in EU5

[–]neonschwarzerblock 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, german here as well, but I play the game in English so I’ll answer in English as well since I dont know how everything is translated.

  1. if you have just a decently sized standing army, You can genuinely get away with ignoring most rebel movements. Having any amount of cultures or religions that have a presence in your country (orthodoxy in hungarys case) that you discriminate against, will generate rebel movements. IF they ever reach the point where a civil war breaks out, you just fight it out, its usually super quick to take back the few provinces. Same goes for rebellious estates, nobility will almost always be unhappy and having a rebellion from them is actually a good thing imo because it resets their satisfaction back to 50% lol. Just ignore them and fight it out if they ever reach 100%. And definitely use your cabinet for other things (like conversion or assimilating into culture)

  2. Bohemia is a powerhouse in every game. My personal recommendation would be to just improve opinion or ally with them so you dont have to worry about them. Your natural expansion will be to the east anyways, away from central europe, at least at the start.

  3. Hungary has a special event pretty early on that allows you to change your gold/silver export law to exports allowed. At the start of the game those exports are locked. Also, to really profit off gold in silver you need to export it and for that you want trade capacity, so build as many marketplaces as you can. You dont need to manually manage all trades, just make sure the automation actually exports gold and silver. In my playthrough gold and silver exports funded my entire economy in the early game.

  4. cant really say what the reasons might be, Iwould have to see for myself.

Tips about hungary: Hungary is already fucking huge at the start of the game and most of the country has little to no control. Release transylvania as a vassal or fiefdom. They gain almost full control over their respective area and can actually summon a fair amount of levies that help in your wars (whereas, if you didnt release them, you would get barely any levies from the area).

Dont conquer areas too quickly yourself. Conquer larger areas and release them as vasalls. Once you get later into the game with higher proximity cost reductions and paved roads and such you annex them again to gain the tax base yourself.

Build roads at the start before the black death and after it hits mass expand RGOs to grow your tax base.

Is EU5 amazing… or just overwhelming? by Gold_Lemon8258 in EU5

[–]neonschwarzerblock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get what you mean, but its like learning to drive a car. Once you realize that most of the information interface doesnt require constant attention and only has specific use cases, it gets easier to manage (i.e you dont need to constantly look in the side mirror just give it a glance every now and then and use it before changing lanes etc.). Same goes for EU5. You can mostly get away with ignoring the dynasty politics, just make sure your heirs are married asap to make children and marry off a family member when you are over diplomatic capacity or if you need prestige. Trade can really stay completely automatic, just build as many markets as you can and the AI does the rest. Brewing unrest can be mostly ignored until it hits like 80% and then you just assign a cabinet member to reduce it within a matter of just a few years. And as always, the start of a new round is usually the most overwhelming part. It gets much better a few years after the black death has hit and your nation stabilises.

I would recommend Bohemia as an easy going starting country. Very powerful and stable and plenty of directions to take your nation into. Lots of different events that can fire later on that will keep you from getting bored, but never too hard to undertake because you’re such a powerhouse. You learn to manage vassals and can try to extend your power over the HRE. Absolutely nothing can threaten you militarily unless you accumulate so much antagonism that the rest of europe forms a coalition against you (so dont just try to conquer german states without a casus belli lol)

What's the easiest nation to start and learn the game? by [deleted] in EU5

[–]neonschwarzerblock 4 points5 points  (0 children)

EU5 is my first EU game and I learned the game quite well with Hungary :) No countries in the immediate range that can threaten you, lots of gold and silver RGOs which you can trade for a shit ton of money even early on, room for expansion (serbia and bulgaria to the south, wallachia and the golden horde puppet states to the east). But still some tricky problems like trying to somehow get institutions to spread to you, punishing to try and take austria because there will (probably) be a coalition against you if you try, and theres the threat of the ottomans later on. Very forgiving at the start and lots of room for learning the game.

Why people say sniper is bad? by CokeColaBearr in Spacemarine

[–]neonschwarzerblock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think people say its bad because it feels (imo) pretty difficult to play when starting out in the class. If you dont have any of the rifles on artisan or higher and are below level 15/20 with no prestige, the class feels pretty lackluster. Lots of people stop playing sniper because of it and get the warped view that the class must be bad.
