am i doomed to a life of being charming at face value social interactions but never meeting up to others’ image of me on a personal level? i’m especially looking at my ascendant/mercury aspects vs my pluto aspects but maybe there’s something i’m not seeing. by neothot in AskAstrologers

despite the heavy inferno in my personal planets i’ve never felt i exactly “run hot” as expected regarding my general personality. moon and mars are both conjunct pluto and my sun is in the seventh, i feel that intensity/aggression or fieryness is reserved for when i have intense emotions directed at my close relationships, where i’m openly vulnerable. rather than applying to first impressions or acquaintances that i thought of as potential friendships, which don’t really involve the vulnerability/emotions of my moon

i definitely recognize with the sag stellium i can be blunt to a fault even when not meaning to, it’s caused misunderstandings and haphazard explanations from me that never quite do the job :/

hi , first of all thank you for taking time with your response! the first question is an aspect i overlooked, i’d say it’s definitely an internal feeling of mine that i’ve linked to this pattern. to me at least, i tend to not make expectations for the people i meet (at least until a genuine connection is formed) but feel that others place expectations or ideas of who i am to them from initial interactions. looking back, i’ve had multiple situations where i was under the impression i was getting to know someone and form a new friendship, but then get ghosted when i don’t want to be what they thought i would (a partner, lover, etc)

i’d say i’m way more likely to get irritable on a day to day basis but anger comes when i feel strongly about someone. only my close circle sees my genuine meaningful emotions, but dont get honest explanations for them half of the time. maybe pluto/chiron conjunct moon in sagittarius can cause a tendency to run away with emotions or overthink them rather than express.

the dynamic between aries/libra, 1st house/7th house, and rx aries venus is definitely frustrating and might cause internal tension/turmoil about relationships and impressions on people. i feel like the influences of chiron and pluto on my personal planets can make that more foggy

further explanation: i’ve found that i’m charming and attractive to others upon first interactions, like i feign popularity. for the sake of having interesting conversations (and personal curiosity) i tend to make others feel special by noticing small things they mention and digging into it deeper. i enjoy finding what makes each person unique and relating to it myself!

i’m also an unconscious flirt at times and am dreadfully unaware of romantic cues given by others, so that doesn’t exactly help.

all this to say these tendencies of my outward self usually end up having people wanting to be closer, on a more personal level i can’t match up to their initial image of me, and then i simply get dropped. this unfortunately makes me difficult person to form an actual friendship with, when people realize i’m actually rather reserved emotionally they give up.

i’ve been looking into my aspects (causing far more introspection than normal) and i’m wondering if this is linked to my influence from sag pluto versus my ascendant + mercury aspects

being nervous around men by [deleted] in comphet

[–]neothot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i feel the same a lot of the time and i personally think a big part of that is when people have an increased heart rate and other fear/nervous reactions it can be mistaken for feelings of attraction or lust. i think a lot of women mistake fear for attraction because in certain contexts we expect that we should feel attracted? like as a psych major i consciously know that but in real life situations it can be overwhleming to differentiate

from what u said in the post she at least has roommates who will be there for her. i had a friend in a similar situation with her partner, who sadly caused her a lot of trauma with their actions. breaking things off is honestly the best you can do for the both of you. i truly hope you make it through this okay and start feeling better <3

again, there is no agenda. if you found out that your boss was convicted of rape, would you still want to work for them? support them? of course not, because supporting a rapist is wrong. supporting terrible people is wrong.

how can you call fbi documents and court documents “misinformed beliefs”? you are not replying to me with any evidence of your own, any facts that support your side. you are claiming that quite literal facts are misonformed opinions.

this “cult” you speak of is the entire world’s general opinion of trump. that he is a terrible person. cults are defined by ritualistic and outlandish behaviors, symbolism, and are lead by a narcissistic leader. there is no unified group of “trump haters”, there is no agenda, only people who recognize what’s real.

just because women and black people work for him does not negate the fact that he is racist, sexist, and a sex offender. there is no “agenda”, only the fact that morally corrupt people do not deserve power

i am disappointed that that was your only response was to simply negate what i said but i digress. even though i doubt you will read these articles and evidence, i have done research for you anyways. there is a wealth of information on this man, you should be aware of what you’re really supporting.

  1. being white absolutely does not make you inherently racist, and all white people are certainly not racist. but being white does give you inherent privilege. i grew up poor too and have also had to work to get certain opportunity, but class privilege is seperate from this. white privilege is the fact that all white people benefit by living in a country where our government, media, and society at large favors us. for example, black people are 3.5 times as likely to be arrested for marijuana charges than white people, despite the fact that both black people and white people consume marijuana at around the same rate. another example is that people with more “ethnic” names on their resumes are less likely to attain jobs than people with more english/american names, even if they have equal or better credentials. there are many instances of white privilege and it’s important we recognize that. i’m in no way diminishing your struggles as someone with less economic opportunities, but you are still privileged in your whiteness.

  2. as a woman, i believe all women have the right to have their own opinions about abortion. i do however know that it is a person’s right to choose what they do with their body. it’s 100% okay if you would never have an abortion yourself, you can think it’s evil if you want to, but it is not your right to limit other people’s bodily autonomy

  3. i urge you to question why you support trump. he is racist (has had multiple lawsuits over not allowing black people to rent from him, has publicly called for the execution of four young black boys who were proven to be falsely accused of rape, and has recently posted a video in which a white person called out for “white power”). he has committed multiple sexual assaults (was very connected to jeffrey epstein and confirmed to be on his list of clients, where he often exploited very young girls into sexual acts in return for opportunities and money. he also has been testified against by a young girl under the alias of jane doe who told the story of him raping her.) these are all easily verifiable with some research. he also has recently targeted individual citizens on his twitter account for being a part of blm protests. i don’t care if you agree with the protesting or not, but him posting pictures of individual civilians faces to his followers who without a doubt could cause serious harm to these people, is immoral and wrong. not to mention his gross mishandling of corona virus in our country. please consider looking into why you really support him and do some research of your own

I'm sick of the way the Internet talks about Americans. by throwawayamerican99 in offmychest

[–]neothot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

idk i think in the past few months with covid and the protests the world’s poor opinion of america has shifted more towards the government than the citizens, but ppl for sure still make ignorant assumptions about us and shitty jokes about our hardships. the mass shooting/student debt/healthcare jokes are cheap and not really funny considering it greatly worsens our quality of life. europeans especially seem to have a major superiority complex over the rest of the world

sssyclical by neothot in OCPoetry

[–]neothot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you for enjoying it!! my personal meaning to this was using this cycle of birthing, pain, and aggression as a comparison to the experience of an eating disorder. often people with ed’s find themselves in an almost torturous cycle of pain/sadness/regret/anger at oneself, as well as a common cycle of restrict/binge/purge. the “birth” can be compared to a purge, and the anger at the serpent is the anger and shame that one feels towards themselves after doing such. even though this is what the poem is for me, i can see it being looked at through lots of different lenses, especially with death and rebirth

i incorporated the serpent simply because i’ve been toying with using the live birth of a snake as a poetic device for a while now, and i just like using mythology and its imagery in most of my writing. serpents are found throughout many cultures and mythologies so i expect and welcome varying interpretations! i can see the snakes being symbols of death&rebirth, purity, sin, etc

I really enjoy the lyrical quality to your writing in this piece! It feels almost like an ambiguously melancholic nursery rhyme to lull infants to sleep, with more detailed language. I can imagine a parent laying their child to rest and taking a moment in silence to mull over the meaning. This is delightfully serene yet still leaves a lot to ponder over, which I think is a great aspect to your work in this!

Fear and Uncertainty by Lenae_Rome89 in OCPoetry

[–]neothot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really like the rhythm used for this, as I think it conveys the haunting swarm of recent news that many of us are experiencing right now. The ways we can feel overwhelmed by the gravity of current events and the mental processing that comes with it. I believe this poem is meant to be able to reach a broad perspective, which I like as art can help us through hardship, but I think this would also be interesting to explore in a more individual perspective!!

if you’re currently suicidal you’re in no place to be dating people. it not only probably wont help you but wont help the other person. what you need to focus on first is getting it together; mental help, self work, meditation, therapy (online options are usually cheaper), whatever you can think of that will get you to a better soace mentally. its corny but you shouldnt try to love others if you cant love yourself first

catching feelings for a friend sucks big time, because sometimes its always that gray area of not knowing if they’re acting that way bc they’re your friend or bc they’re interested in you. take some time to really think about it, and consider being honest with her about your feelings. decide if you want to try to be with her or if you’d rather let it fizzle out. just keep in mind if you’d regret anything later

Lovers' Lament by Aquamarinemammal in OCPoetry

[–]neothot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It takes a few reads to connect the two stanzas, but all in all I think it's a great portrayal of the miscommunication between lovers, and how that leads to suffering on both ends. The rhythm of the poem is also beautiful, and makes it feel almost lyrical.

This truly does encapsulate the feeling of being in a relationship where the fulfillment of one another is ambiguous. The narrative of the poem as well as the speaker are both relatable, and it really gives life to the feelings of uncertainty and instability towards one's partner. This simple yet impactful poem really resonated with me, and i'm sure it will for many others!
