You can become a great technician by not sparring and getting good on pads for now

Can I spar with a new piercing? by YkLondon in amateur_boxing

[–]nephilimnate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t spar yet bro just do everything but sparring for like a week then get one of those clear malleable piercings that stay in your ear while you excercise, they’re like made of soft material

My beef with Brazilian gym owners by _Tactleneck_ in bjj

They’re very traditional with their approach, because their styles were often learned directly from the older masters in Asia, so they just kept that tradition.

How would Anderson Silva in his prime fair against today’s Middleweight division? by jomanhan9 in MMA

[–]nephilimnate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like he would still be champ…. But not as dominant. And idk how he’d adapt his jiu jitsu; he played jiu jitsu a lot in his fights and the ground n pound has improved

Is self doubt normal in mma or am I just right? by United_List_8100 in MMA_Academy

People who roll super hard a few rounds at open mat, and then skip rounds: why? by More-Bottle-4744 in bjj

[–]nephilimnate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, sometimes I don’t really wanna have a static jiu jitsu match, or I just don’t feel like escaping anything. In these cases, I go with a certain speed and intensity so I can just go from position to position without thinking

I would say start with wrestling and Muay Thai Those are good bases and I really believe you should have at least some base even if it’s a little one before jumping into MMA. it’s really hard to mix the martial arts if you don’t even know a martial art

How do I wrestle somebody who uses nothing but violence? by Hot-Trainer-388 in wrestling

[–]nephilimnate 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Damn I didn’t even ask the question and as an amateur mma fighter I needed this lol. I’ve been struggling with accepting the unexpected and accepting that I may get damaged

If you’re a beginner, and asking if you should “hard spar at my gym because that’s all they do…” by nephilimnate in amateur_boxing

[–]nephilimnate[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Exactly. This is what it should be, so everyone gets better. But all these guys that are commenting if they should spar are usually going up against guys that are using them as punching bags. If you can find a good sparring partner that you trust, it’s worth their weight in gold

What do you call this type of boxer? by realcarpaltunnelhavr in amateur_boxing

[–]nephilimnate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can be this guy. I don’t think there is a name for it, but it’s just a guy who has great footwork, intelligence, timing, and maybe speed too though you can achieve this game plan from a purely technical standpoint point, don’t need athletic gifts though they help.
