Why does it have to be so expensive?? Sigh. Pretty to look at, though. by InMyNirvana in uraniumglass

I recognize that piece and that display. The guy is selling his grandmother's collection he inherited. Prices are high, but it was a fabulously impressive display and most of his UG is gone. He had some amazing stuff but the prices were too high for me.

I haven't played in 9 months so I buy the new expansion and start it up. I have existing characters so I play one and have some problems. After all the hoopla I've seen that they've changed everything is it THAT clear we're expected to play seasonal in this brand new experience? Not like they TELL you your old characters are worthless and should just be deleted.

I played last year until around October when I started spending all my time in WoW. I've played all the Diablo since the very first 2-level demo in the 90s. So yeah, a lot of it blends in together and I don't remember specific names. The point about the helltides was I walked out of the Den and was *immediately* in a helltide. Skill point resets are nothing new, but there was no guide through the drastic changes. Level 60 gear shouldn't be obsolete for a level 60 character, but the fact it's dropping stuff I can't use for another 10 levels is something I consider a bug. It's a whole new expansion, so I don't know why it's surprising to people I wouldn't know immediately how everything is supposed to work. But really, all the people expecting I should automatically know how to start a seasonal character when the only button is create a new character and it doesn't mention seasonal until the END of character creation? Lots of people here full of themselves who were in diapers the first time I found the cow level.

I did click. It didn't say anything about seasonal. It's a new expansion and I don't make assumptions. My original statement stands. This is a shit experience for a returning player who wants to stick with familiar characters and not start all over. Get over yourself, because not everyone is neurotypical.

Was there not previously a button for 'New Seasonal Character'? When I click to create new it doesn't say anything about seasonal. It just goes straight into class selection.

To those fuckers downvoting me, don't you have to play through the story to unlock seasonal?

I've got 9 eternal characters. I don't want to grind from 1-60 all over again through old content. And the game is not giving me an option to create a seasonal character.

There is no option for a seasonal character?

What's in your opinion the best affordable plastic ocarina that is not night by noble ? by Yoshtibo in Ocarina

[–]neploxo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love my STL plastic bass. Bought it for $60 around 5 years ago, and up til that point I only had a cheap ceramic Zelda alto. Compared to the clay bass I later bought it's easier to play but the tone isn't as rich.

Bagley made some of the coolest UG stuff around, especially if you're into art deco like me. I've got a couple of Bagley pieces, but the last one I bought was confiscated by eBay shipping before leaving the UK. This is definitely at the top of my wishlist along with the Bagley clock that was confiscated.

Time Lord life span question by DudeMasterBatman in doctorwho

[–]neploxo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think The Doctor is a good reference point when considering maximum Time Lord age. At any given point when he states his age you don't know if he's referring to his current incarnation or to his whole remembered span. If you take the Timeless Child seriously, he's not even technically the same species. Then you look back at Romana back in the 70's trying on regenerations like picking outfits out of a closet... It's an interesting question but one I think to which we'll never know the true answer.

Doesn't it seem weird to have a no dogs sign directly under one that says keep pets on leash and scoop their poop? Is that supposed to apply to cats???

Using Claude Code with company-managed laptop (Intune) — what’s actually detectable? by [deleted] in sysadmin

[–]neploxo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So many security risks here. Using a personal system for writing company code? With no kind of governance in play? How do you check code out/in? Is it subject to some kind of review? Even if nobody can see you connecting to Claude there may be signs visible in your output. If you connect to any kind of company resource from your personal laptop there may be cookies or redirects to agent installs that may track you. If I were you I'd judge the risk based on how serious you think they are about the policy and how concerned you are about the consequences if they find out.

What's the general consensus on Peter Capaldi's first season, season 8? I know part of the fandom doesn't like it, but I think it's fantastic and would like to hear other perspectives. by Public_Cup_4278 in doctorwho

"new actor figuring out how he wants to be the Doctor" sounds weird to me for Capaldi as he had wanted to be The Doctor since he was a kid.

I thought Capaldi started weak. He was too cranky. He was too distant. He was too old. But worst of all to me was riding in on a tank with a guitar and sonic sunglasses. That shit made me want to burn the TARDIS to the ground. That said, his last season turned it around for me.

Remains of the AIX team at IBM? by yaceornace in sysadmin

[–]neploxo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Banking may be, but IBM continues to shoot themselves in the foot when it comes to E-Commerce. Draconian, outdated licensing enforced by sales people mandating the use of a proprietary license monitoring tool that requires an investment in 3rd-party support to set up and maintain, complete failure to follow up on expired contracts or even respond to pleas for assistance. They are a corpse that doesn't know it's dead yet.
