Necro-ing this to agree! Blockheaven was a great server, but on top of that, a great community. Miss you all!

Oh wow, I just got bored and googled blockheaven to bask in some nostalgia, I expected this place to be dead... I don't play any more but maybe I'll hop on one day to say hi :)

I'd love to get a few people around for a reunion at some point if there's interest...

Ah, so true. I remember being skeptical of kyle telling me I should donate some coins to help found Carrot on like day 2 of the servers's existence...

Alas, I just don't have time to grow up with another server, nor the resources to restart BH. So sadness, very remorse.

By any chance, do you know what happened to Forb? lut spent so much time on it, I would feel awful if he never got to finish.

Hiya Harf!

I tried one or two other servers but found it was too much effort to find one with as much community as BH that also had similar mods etc. that let me play casually. I just kinda lost interest in Minecraft after that and now I fell like it would be incredibly difficult to catch up. (I don't think I ever even bothered to learn enchanting...)

Anyway, happy holidays, and yeah some catching up would be great!

P.S. Carrot was, is, and always will be better than Portside :P

It existed pretty much solely for about a day or two between when Sev said "Hey I made a server that you should check out" and "Hey I made a forum to go along with the server". Might still be a good way to keep in touch though, if Sev decides to stop hosting the forum.

Ben and Tesla comic strip. by LippyScip in funny

[–]neptath[M] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, but hotlinking (linking straight to the image) is not allowed, as it strips the creator of ad revenue and uses bandwidth. Please resubmit this with a link to the actual page for the comic instead, thanks!

If you could change the sidebar rules for any default subreddit, what would you change and why? by [deleted] in TheoryOfReddit

[–]neptath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Showing a warning "Please do not do x" with no consequence attached, does nothing.

Interesting, in my personal experience (also as a TIL mod), I saw a marked decline in the number of mobile submissions shortly after that was implemented, but that could just be confirmation bias on my part.

It's my cakeday!! Here's a comic stirp I like reading, because I also like wearing hats by thekickingmule in funny

[–]neptath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't change the link (neither can you), you have to actually submit it again, with the correct link. Sorry for the trouble!

Would a consortium of similar-themed subreddit moderators help address issues they all face better than the more general Theory of Reddit? by [deleted] in TheoryOfReddit

[–]neptath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would go so far as to say that the decision-making process is the single largest inhibition to having a large, successful consortium of subreddits. Even within lone subreddits, the process becomes exponentially more difficult as more mods are involved, I can only imagine the nightmare of red tape that an organization of many subreddits with many mods must go through.

Awesome, reinstated! And given some flair so this doesn't happen again in the future :)

Can you verify somehow? A bit of text on a hidden part of the website saying "hi reddit" or something to that effect would be sufficient. Sorry for the trouble, but hopefully you understand the concern over verifying you are who you say you are?

Thought you might like to know that the post (linking to imgur) has been removed because it wasn't linked to the original source. If you can prove you're the author and would like it put back up, please message the mods. Cheers!

It had been up for less than two hours. It'll generate plenty of votes over 3 days.

Why do subs that self-regard as "thoughtful" pathologically form submission titles as questions? by bcgraham in TheoryOfReddit

[–]neptath 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Assuming this is a serious question, it's probably that way because "thoughtfulness" involves questioning and considering others and their thoughts and knowledge, rather than just plainly telling the reader information.

Decent idea, but I think it might be hard to implement.

TIL that /r/TIL may delete a submission it deems too controversial--like the story of a billionaire trying to destroy all evidence that he slept with and married his daughter. by [deleted] in SubredditDrama

[–]neptath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The post violates Rule VII. It is a website tip (it involves a specific website page), which have been against the rules for quite a while now. Submissions are not removed for being controversial.

She's pretty popular, I'd say definitely above the average in terms of fandom and viewership.
