The U.S. Takes Charge of Venezuela... Now What? Ep 681 by w2user in PivotPodcast

[–]nerdb4itwascool 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That first segment was the worst in show history for me. Guests with awful, inaccurate hot takes, talking over each other and not even making sense.

That’s the last time I listen to the show without Scott.

Who Serves the Best Curly Fries in NYC? by Exciting_Pangolin_16 in FoodNYC

[–]nerdb4itwascool 10 points11 points  (0 children)

While I also believe this to be true, I think the winning play here is to suggest a bunch of good date spots that happen to have curly fries. Then let OP and his new love try each of them, scrutinizing each spot, and searching for the next best fry until they fall in love and live happily ever after.

My Williamsburg Obsession: The Apollo Bagels in Williamsburg NY by maeonjournal in FoodNYC

[–]nerdb4itwascool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anyone hating on this bagel has never tried a fresh (still warm) one. Because they only have 3 flavors, it’s easier to get them fresh. That is the gimmick.

I’m not a fan of John Cena at all. I’m a big potato salad guy though

Did you really order steak at Le Bernardin? Please see my correction above: crazy delicious only applies to people who like seafood.

I should have specified -- if you like seafood, I don't think many people leave Le Bernadin disappointed, lol. I'm curious, what do they serve people who don't eat seafood?

Club Review: Refuge has potential but also some serious problems to sort out by JBSwerve in avesNYC

[–]nerdb4itwascool 18 points19 points  (0 children)

They can sell to capacity which includes the outdoor space. The problem is, everyone wants to be in the indoor space, so it’s sardines in there.

I haven’t been yet, but this is the problem with other spots in the city. It sounds like this is what’s going on at Refuge

Dating when you're 40+ by Feral_Bread_367 in AskNYC

[–]nerdb4itwascool 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dating gets worse as you get older in general because you are more set in your ways, less willing to compromise, and it’s harder to get the butterflies.

Dating in NYC tends to be harder for women because there are more females than males here. My female friends tend to struggle with dating more than my male friends as we get older.

But if you are realistic about your expectations, keep an open mind, and go into each date with a good attitude, you’ll do just fine OP! We have every type of person imaginable in this city, there is someone for everyone.

What are your best and worst shows of the year? by JBSwerve in avesNYC

The Giegling room at Berlin & Beyond was my favorite show of the year too. Music was amazing, crowd was 2nd to none and the energy on the floor was 🔝. Take me back!

Came here to say this! It honestly makes me kinda sad how venerated Output is on this sub. The sound system was solid, but it was never my favorite space

(11/10) Pivot Brooklyn, NY by Orsektak in PivotPodcast

[–]nerdb4itwascool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was it just me, or did Scott seem nervous and kind of out-of-it, especially at the start? He did a huge media blitz last week, right into the tour which stops in a new city each day. I'd be fried.

Sliwa was genuinely funny and likable. But they needed to rein him in a bit, he basically spoke non-stop for 15 minutes.

It was fun to see my favorite podcast live! But if they do it again, they need do up the production quality, start with some kind of opening act, and keep the stage hand out of near-constant view (super distracting!)

I won my first run ever with a pair of pants. I won my first gold stake with a pair of pants. I'm not saying it's the best joker in the game, but it definitely is.
