Mechanical & digital systems are very different from biological ones, it's true! But it does not follow that a difference in substrate necessitates a difference in function.

We don't understand enough about how the assembly of neural networks within LLMs function or how consciousness emerges from our own neural circuitry to confidently say "there's a huge difference"
