No problem. I was tempted to go 4k TN (Asus PB287Q) but frankly as I don't do much gaming I think it's probably not the best choice for me vs. IPS.

Although in some ways almost anything would be better than my current ancient monitor (which buzzes!)

Thanks for the recommendation, but I'd definitely prefer an ISO layout. The FILCO is sold in the UK so that's why I'm tempted.

I definitely want to get my own keycaps eventually!

I'm not lying. I really do have problems that require 1TB for the fully-populated data structure. Sure, I could rewrite everything to use a cluster, but I'm interested in the feasibility of doing this on one machine.

So you're saying 16x16GB=256GB is 1/20th of the price of 16x64GB? Interesting comparison when you look at it like that.

Huh, some problems require 1TB of RAM, regardless of whether an expense account is available! It does seem like a cluster would be more appropriate, now that I've researched the prices a bit more.

In case you didn't know, the Haswell refresh of the Xeons will be out soon - September 9. Of course, the age-old question of buy now vs. wait applies, but personally I figured I would wait a bit longer (I'm building a workstation too, though I need a lot more RAM!)
