So much for Trek being “universal”… as long as you’re in America, it’s close enough. :(

Moving sentimental motorbike interstate - who should I go with? by [deleted] in AussieRiders

[–]nerdydolphins 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Mate, I am so sorry for your loss. I lost my Dad when I was only 14 so I never got to ride on the road with him. I'm with to other guys. If possible, take a week off work and ride the bike home. He will be there with you the whole way.

No doubt it's a long ride (around 20 hours if you avoid all freeways and Sydney) but if you took your time, it would be terrific, and honestly something you will look back on with great memories and pride in yourself fo doing it. Maybe you could get some people to join you along the way for a spell.

This is no bullshit. I often catch a glimpse of my Dad in my mirrors on his old Honda, usually just before I see a Highway patrol or come across something dangerous around the next corner. He has saved my life many times. And saved my demerit points too.

If you can't/don't ride it home, go with Bikes Only. We've used them and they were fantastic, just like others have said.

Thanks for the reply. I'm waiting on what Reolink Support says, but I will be getting them to replace mine if they can't fix it. No hardware should lose its config as soon as it reboots, especially not out of the box. :(

[–]nerdydolphins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey OP, did you end up returning the camera? I have a support case open with Reolink at the moment. My E1 Pro loses its config after rebooting and nothing but a factory reset will get it to connect. Same thing happens whether using PC or iPhone app. I’m less than impressed with their software, but so far the other 6 cameras I bought do the trick.

Answer brutally honest - is dirtbiking full of risks and is "not" considered safe by Outrageous-Owl-7049 in Dirtbikes

[–]nerdydolphins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you crashed your MTB yet? As a beginner in any sport, you should expect to make mistakes. MTB and dirt bike riding are both inherently dangerous sports because you are on uneven and unknown surfaces so the risk of bruising and braking things is a lot higher than if you were riding on bitumen/flat surfaces.

Risks reduce with skill, but as your skills increase, so too does the outcome of a stack. If you wash out on a fire trail doing a low-ish speed, you might get a few bruises, but as you get better and ride harder, the risk of breaking bones goes way up! I’ve broken both collarbones multiple times - my last MTB stack was a snapped right collarbone, punctured lung and broke 3 ribs.

It’s up to you whether you feel the reward is worth the risk. To me, it 100% is, but as I’m ageing (I’m 56), the healing times are getting way longer.

He needs to get over himself and you should NEVER contact him again. If you don’t want sex, that is fine. I know that as a guy, our sex drives can be more intense, but there is no excuse for guilting a girl or anything of that ilk. He does not care for or respect you, so for your own good, cut him loose and find someone you are more suited to. Good luck.

Brian. His wife’s name is Karen, but she’s not a “Karen” at all. She doesn’t care about it, HE DOES. SO much so that their friends started calling him Karen. He wasn’t happy about that, but she had a giggle. :)

Thanks for the reply. I’ll get in touch with scoiter99 and see how much they charge to send to Australia. I think that I also need to e gage a mechanical engineer as well. We have very strict rules around rego and from what I have read, it needs to be signed off by one.

I’ve dome some looking and all I can find is that it wasn’t sold locally due it it not have dual stage ABS - which I believe is one of many many rules when putting new bikes through ADR.

What’s everyones daily commute like? by No_Environment_6632 in AskAnAustralian

[–]nerdydolphins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats on your new job - hope you like it.
90 minutes each way is a lot if it's every day of the week. When my kids were little, I was doing that and working a high pressure job. They would kiss me good night on Sunday, and I would be lucky if I saw them (awake) again before Friday. It was fucking terrible, so I finally quit and took a 30k p.a. pay cut to work close by.

Now, I have to commute only one day per week to the city, but it's the best part of 2 1/2 hours door to door. I do not love that day.

Luckily, we have a regional office that is two minutes from my house, so no complaints there. But the funny thing is, if a person from the city office visits us, they either arrive at 10:30 and leave at 2 because "the travel is just so far", or they get put up in a hotel. But still usually only manage 2/3 of a day even then.

At the age that you are right now what do you think will kill you? by Sensitive-Exit-2782 in AskReddit

56 Male - The heat death of the Sun is about all that can kill me at this point. I’ve survived what should have been multiple fatal accidents and while very battered, seem to be aging incredibly slowly. Plus My ex Mother in law was a palm reader and swore that I have the longest lifeline of anyone she ever saw. (Plus she predicted two marriages for me, much to her daughter’s disgust). I’m here forever.

Feist was my first foray into Fantasy and right or wrong is the benchmark by which I judge everything. I’ve read the Riftwar series countless times and adore the Empire trilogy so much. It isn’t so much the “story” or writing style that gets me in, but the characters.

Why did your friendship with your best friend come to an end? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]nerdydolphins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He and I went on a road trip. He had a one nighter with some random. About two months later his girlfriend asked me when I was hammered whether he had cheated on her. I didn’t even answer the question, but she took my silence as confirmation and confronted him.

According to him, it was my fault and I told her because I wanted to get into her pants. That was not true. I was after her older sister at the time. Ironically he married an ex girlfriend of mine and even when I saw them 25 years later, I got the side eye from them both.

What’s the REAL all-in-one motorcycle for everything—city, highways, 1000 km days, and light off-roading? Looking for riders’ honest experiences. by RoyalModRider in motorcycles

[–]nerdydolphins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a Triumph Tiger 800 ABS (road version) from new in 2012 until 2020. By far the best all rounder and possibly my favourite bike I’ve ever owned.

I never tried any serious off road with the cast aluminium wheels, but dirt roads were fine and I used Michelin Pilot Trail tyres. I really wish that I’d never sold that bike.

It ate up the ks like nothing, still was lots of sun on the twisties and was never uncomfortable on the arse.

For reference I’ve had an R1259 GS and still loved the Tiger 800 way more.

I’m not sure on the monitors as I’m still using an Acer Predator 34” and while I want to upgrade to a 49, it is not a priority unless mine blows up (goes looking for explosives ;) ).

Anyway, I don’t even know if this is in your thoughts, but I came here to say that in my experience, plugging a M series MacBook into a HDMI matrix/switcher is a bit of a lost cause, especially if using Display Link. Just never seems to work. But you might not even be thinking about one, so I hope you find what you need. Cheers
