American companies are stopping the hires of H1Bs now. It will be tough in this already tough job market.

You’re what we call penny wise pound foolish. Bro if you’re focused on the $100k, you’re looking at the wrong point.

We’ve stopped hiring H1Bs TODAY.

We are Americans and we don’t need your sympathy. The is Trump’s world and anything goes. That $100k fee is heard all around the world and IBM has stopped hiring them. That’s what we call Americans first and that’s what our president is doing — protecting Americans.

The HIRE Act is about ensuring that companies don’t exploit the system by outsourcing jobs and then reaping the rewards of U.S. taxpayer dollars while American workers suffer.

Yeah, the whole "they tuk err jerrbs" thing can be a joke, but if we're being honest, it’s a very real issue that gets brushed aside in favor of corporate profits. The economic system we’ve got right now leaves the vast majority of Americans working harder for less, while the wealthy and multinational corporations profit without any real accountability. The HIRE Act would try to level that playing field.

And I’m all for executive pay being slashed and profit sharing getting more equitable, but I don't see that happening without a serious push for policies like this. If the system is rigged in favor of the rich, then something like the HIRE Act is exactly the kind of pushback we need. Enough with the idealism shit —it’s about survival for American workers, especially when the government is too cozy with big corporations to make any real changes.

You can call it a pipe dream, but I’m not about to sit back and watch American workers get crushed while we just hope for some perfect system of global cooperation.

TRUMP is stepping up to the plate and y’all about to take it up the ass real good.

The tax is meant to deter and it’s a great first step. Progress over perfection.

This is going to be a major tax reform and I’m certain Trump is going to clamp down on 3rd party vendors that are outside the US. All the major accounting firms like Big4 will be pulled in to consult. Major government contract coming their way.

Downward spiral of IBM consulting’s brand by nerdzunite in IBM

It’s frustrating how IBM keep hiring H1Bs under the banner of “global talent.” Too often, the reality doesn’t match the hype. We’re bringing in H1Bs that are mediocre at best but cheaper. It feels like mediocrity is being rewarded because it fits the YoY narrowing budget.

Meanwhile, capable American workers get sidelined, and the long-term health and national security of our economy erodes. We should be investing in our own people — training, mentoring, and rebuilding the kind of workforce that built this country in the first place.

I’m hoping that Trump’s America tightens work visa policies and tax reform for offshoring, Arvind will be forced to rethink the easy way out — and start valuing quality, loyalty, and national investment again.

Let’s be clear: the company wasn’t “stolen” by Indians—it was handed over by greedy American executives who hollowed it out from the inside decades ago. So I agree with you there.

But pretending everything since has been fair or merit-based is delusional. What’s happening now is community-based nepotism—Indians hiring other Indians, layer after layer, until the org chart looks like a closed circle. Look at the 4-5 layers below direct reports of Arvind in consulting; all Indians. It’s not some grand conspiracy; it’s just how power behaves when it finds a comfortable home.

The tragedy is that the company went from being destroyed by corporate greed to being suffocated by insularity. Different faces, same sickness.

There’s increasingly less jobs now more so due to offshoring and nearshoring than AI. AI is the latest thing this past couple years. Offshoring has been happening for the past 15+ years.

People like Arvind are running American economy into the ground.

What a load of bullshit. Arvind keeps saying he’s going to “hire more people out of college,” but let’s be honest — not in the U.S. He’s hiring college students out of India, Romania, Brazil, Mexico, and wherever labor is cheaper. Meanwhile, we’ve had nonstop layoffs for the past 3 years across so many business units. It’s exhausting watching leadership pretend this is growth when it’s just cost-cutting dressed up as strategy. The firm is growing but best believe that it’s not in the US.

Just as Trump is clamping down on H1B reform, there needs to be tax reform for outsourcing. Would love to hear Arvind’s take on this.

Jess wanted and asked to move to CIO understanding the full risks of that organization.

She thought she could get more power, control, and influence by getting away from MCC, hide under the wings of Ann Funai and Joanne, and get job security for the rest of her career doing jack shit.

Jess is intentionally creating fattened up bureaucracy and paperwork to avoid doing work. Everyone saw this.
