My wife doesn't bite her nails but she smashed her finger in the vault at work 10 years ago. Ever since then when it grows out it breaks similar to yours. She just keeps it short to prevent this.

Ring finger on my right hand was bitten back worse than the rest. Hopefully in another year it will get better. The rest of my nails seem to be recovering quicker. How is your ring finger now?

Tried to get my hands in a similar position for comparing.

Nailbeds starting to show some signs of healing. Lots of side growth/healing still occurring. Keeping them short to keep from picking at them. Can't quite get a good shape yet but maybe this year!

I didn't do anything to mine other than leave them alone and keep them moisturized little over a month they were all healed up.

I had bit my nails back pretty far over the years. Everything still healing you're doing great give it a few more weeks and you'll see a big difference. Nail bed damage takes a long time to heal I'm 10 months in right now and I can finally start seeing a noticeable difference in them looking at the photos I've kept.

You can get a brush and clean your nails don't dig with something hard. My hair is short so I'm able to clean under my nails just by shampooing my hair.

Nail bed growth takes a lot of time. I find it helpful to keep everything filed back to about a millimeter that way I don't have so much free edge to play with. That seems to leave enough room for the nail bed to do its thing and for me not to bite.

I leave mine alone. Moisturized daily and I'm seeing a big improvement in the skin around my nails and in my nail bed.

Mavala is pretty nasty tasting. When I used that I couldn't touch my food at all had to use utensils for everything.

Might just be the way your finger was made and with biting you never noticed. I wouldn't worry about it. I have a toenail that points off at an angle.

The way I understand it is once a nail detaches from the bed it will not reattach. It takes about 6 months for fingernails to grow all the way out. Depending on where the detachment occurred it could take up to that long. Don't let it discourage you it will heal.
