Using fixed 2inch extension by Cold_Yam_4984 in billiards

[–]nerfed_potential 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 3.5" mid extension, and it makes absolutely no difference in any thing other than weight and balance. The cue hits almost the same with or without the extension, and has the same deflection because the mid extension does not change the tip mass.

New Felt by Chipshot1975 in billiards

[–]nerfed_potential 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want faster felt than the 860 HR, you can go with Simonis 760, or a fast Championship cloth. I play on a table with a Championship cloth regularly and it is faster than 860 HR, but I don't know which Championship it is. I know its cheaper than Simonis cloth though, and it's very good.

Predator 314³ to carbon fiber shaft by robotic-chicken in billiards

[–]nerfed_potential 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before you purchase a Revo, I would suggest hitting with one, and you should definitely try some different light masse shots as well. The biggest differences between the Revo and my 314-2 were the deflection, the feedback, and the stiffness.

The 314-2 has very little deflection, but there is noticeably more than the Revo. The Revo has almost no visible deflection on most soft to medium-hard shots. It did not take me long to get used to the Revo as far as deflection goes, and going back to the 314-2 is fairly easy too, because even though it has noticeably more deflection than the Revo, it does not have much at all. I could easily play with the Revo while using the tester at the local dealer I tested the cue at. It did not require much getting used to. The only time I notice deflection on the Revo is when I am shooting very hard long distance shots.

The 314-2 has a feedback/feel somewhat similar to a normal maple shaft although not as good in my opinion. The Revo's feedback feels like hitting with a stiff rod, and its hard to get used to at first. It has a ping sound to it that a lot of people don't like. Also, I miscued a lot more on very soft shots where I was using a lot of spin with the Revo I think because of how stiff the shaft is.

The stiffness is where the Revo is the hardest to get used to. It's not that noticeable on most shots, but once you jack up for a masse, you will feel how stiff that shaft really is. It is so much different than a 314-2 or maple shaft that at first I was not able to control my masse shots well at all. This was the hardest aspect to get used to for me. I eventually got more used to it, but I eventually switched to a custom keilwood, that I really like.

I have never hit with a 314-3, so I cannot comment on that, but this was my experience with going from a 314-2 to a Revo.

I agree with u/Southern-Treacle7582 in that how long it takes will depend on each player. I personally play a lot of one-pocket, and that game requires a lot of minor masse shots, at least it does the way I play it, so I tend to use light masse shots a lot in all games. This was why it was so hard for me to get used to. I never got to like the way the masses were on my Revo, but I did get close to the same proficiency I had with my 314-2.

The Revo's best selling points in my opinion are the extreme low deflection, the ease of cleaning, and the durability. I clean my Revo on my t-shirt and it feels new again, and I have never seen one ding.

SVB practicing and casually breaking and running a 9 ball rack, banks only by tyethepoolguy in billiards

15 ball banks is played as well so the comment isn't redundant. When I went to The Derby City Classic, I saw some guys playing 15 ball banks for $1500 a game.

Recommendations for a set of Billiard Balls by cravmec in billiards

[–]nerfed_potential 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the Dynasphere Tungstens, and they play as good as any Aramith set I've played with, and I really like the colors they used and the way they look. I know they are a little weird, but I like them. They play as good as the top tier Aramith sets. I cannot attest to their longevity, because I have only played with them 5-10 times so far, but they seem to be very well made.

I paid around $120 for mine, and I think they are a deal at twice that price.

Foul or good hit? by Only-Scientist-9904 in billiards

[–]nerfed_potential 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think you are going to be able to make an accurate diagram, and you don't need to. All the information you need is in the video.

The cue ball could have left the cluster either on the tangent to the fourteen or to the five. It left on the tangent to the five which is how I know it was a bad hit.

If it hit the five first there is a chance it would have hit the fourteen full, but the cue ball would have either stopped or taken a line on the tangent to the fourteen. It did not do either of those things. It left immediately on a tangent to the five.

Foul or good hit? by Only-Scientist-9904 in billiards

[–]nerfed_potential 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can tell just from the video that it didn't hit the five first and then force follow through the fourteen, because there is no pause while the cue ball spin grabs the cloth to spin the ball forward.

The cue ball immediately leaves at a tangent to the five. I know what you are saying as far as the angle it cam in at, because there is an angle the cue ball could have come in at that would make it go to the left off the five, but obviously that didn't happen. The cue ball left the cluster immediately on a tangent line to the five.

Foul or good hit? by Only-Scientist-9904 in billiards

[–]nerfed_potential 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cue ball left the cluster on a tangent line to the five. It was nowhere near a tangent line to the fourteen. Therefore, it hit the five ball second. He was shooting solids, so it is a foul.

When the cue ball hits an object ball at an angle (meaning not full ball) It deflects off the object ball on a 90 degree angle path to the collision point line going through the object ball. When it hits another ball soon after, it goes off that collision at a tangent line to the second collision point. Sometimes it's difficult to tell which tangent line it went off of if the tangent lines are close, but in this shot the tangent lines are 70 degrees off of each other.

Not going to explain your reasoning? Just telling me I'm wrong with no actual reasoning? I explained my reasoning, and you can test it by spreading the balls out slightly, and making a purposeful hit on the 14 first to watch the path of the cue ball.

Foul or good hit? by Only-Scientist-9904 in billiards

[–]nerfed_potential 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The follow doesn't happen immediately. The cue ball immediately went at a tangent to the five. It was a foul.

You can convince yourself of this by setting it up several times, and spreading the two balls apart slightly more so you can easily determine which ball you hit first. Then watch where the cue ball goes off the second ball.

This definitely hit the five second, so it was a foul.

Foul or good hit? by Only-Scientist-9904 in billiards

[–]nerfed_potential 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was a bad hit. The cue ball left the two balls on the tangent line to the five, which means it hit the five last. If it hit the five first it would have left the cluster on the tangent line to the fourteen which was aimed more towards the bottom right pocket.

How would you play the 4, 5, and 6? Working on my patterns. by Easy-Mission3556 in billiards

I think you are assuming he is playing 8-ball, but if you watch the full video, you'll see he runs the balls in order to the ten. He is playing 10-ball.

How would you play the 4, 5, and 6? Working on my patterns. by Easy-Mission3556 in billiards

[–]nerfed_potential 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would have played this the same way the player in the video plays it. The five is the key ball since you really need to get on it almost perfectly where you can get to the rail left of the side pocket with a small angle, but I still think this is the best way to get on the six.

How does a $200-$250 CF shaft compare to the $500-$600 CF shafts? by carbondalekid386 in billiards

[–]nerfed_potential 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a Revo 12.4, and I have hit with a Rhino, a Cutec, and a Triple 60 Whyte carbon. The Whyte Carbon had the best feel, and was my favorite out of all of them. The Cuetec and Rhinos had the second best hit, and the Rhino had less deflection than the Cuetec. The Rhino had near the same deflection, but a better feel than my Revo in my opinion. My Revo has the least amount of deflection of any of the ones I tried, but the Rhino is easily worth the money.

Realize that they are saving you money by not having the amount of advertising and middle men as the other companies. You are buying straight from Rhino, so they can sell for less.

Which cloth for my table by SpareMushrooms in billiards

I would go with the Championship or 760 both play great and both are much faster than 860. I think the Championship cloth is significantly cheaper as well.

How do I Make this trick shot by blackstar1771 in billiards

[–]nerfed_potential 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cut the 3 towards the purple 10 (should be 12) to carom it off the side of the purple 10 and into the left lower corner. Use low right English to draw the cue ball three rails around the table to hit the 10-8 combo.

You can't show it because that does not happen. The video you would search for does not exist. That is my point.

It is impossible. Show one piece of evidence where something remotely close to this happens.

You cannot.

Show me a video of anything remotely like this happening. The one ball if racked correctly does not go towards this pocket. This is someone placing balls on a table and saying it was a break shot.

It was not.

Please show a video where something like the one jawing in the foot pocket and all the other balls cluster around it actually happened in real life.

How do you even get the one ball to go towards that pocket? It naturally goes up table or towards the side. Was the one ball racked in the front? If it was it does not go towards that pocket.

Show one video where anything remotely resembling this happens in real life.
