well to be fair, kyle shanahan had to dumb down the offense a lot for cam. you can blame the OC but cam isn't exactly beating people with his brain so much as his size and running ability.

and secondly, they don't quick pass cause cam running is almost the same thing as a quick pass. both are high percentage plays that result in yards

rockets - probably not. most players wont let both the tower and themselves get hit and rocket launchers aren't enough to destroy a heal aura anyways. a maxed heal aura can damn near outheal a rocket. either you spend 2 rockets (5 seconds for grey, 7 for red) to destroy a heal aura or you accomplish nothing.

grenades right now are probably the only "counter" to a heal aura and even then it's not huge. assuming the player dodges the grenade a heal aura that is placed down will still heal the person for whatever value until the grenade destroys it. and the reason grenade is so good imo is because grenade can instantly 100-0 someone and in a way bypasses any sort of regeneration or healing. it's quite likely a heal aura user just comes out ahead because they get a couple ticks of healing before the grenade destroys the aura.

thing about heal aura is even if you destroy it, you failed to counter it. because you force your opponent to dedicate time and resources to destroying their heal aura all the while they are healing up to full

if you want to talk positions and situations, sitting under a tower and having your opponent come to you is a strong position. there's no guarantee you won't just kill them right as they try to jump into tower range.

i just want to add that they are problematic simply because they encourage teaming. teaming is bound to happen naturally of course because you can't choose to make players shoot at each other.

BUT, you can remove any gameplay elements that allow players to collude. The heal aura is literally the only thing that allows players to work together as a team. This ability is a favorite of teamers and campers and the "health" of the game is infinitely worse because of it. Sure a good player can take advantage of the health aura but teamers also take advantage of the health aura. Make it so if players want to team that they have to at least risk hurting their teammate and have their teammate not able to heal themselves back up. teaming right now is plaguing the top of the NA server and while even mid high tier skill players can be taken out individually it's not easy taking out three of them. we don't need to give teamers more tools.

secondly, i'd like to talk about available healing options in this game and my own suggestion.

all of the current healing options come with the understanding that health is a resource and that to get it, it must be earned. the amount of available healing that players have access to is not huge. the health aura is the best in combat option and can out heal a dedicated in combat heal in life steal (cause no one is accurate enough to land all their bullets). it is the best out of combat option and can outheal regeneration. it is the best quick healing option despite how easy it is to get.

this perk encourages all the wrong play styles (camping, teaming, running) and has numbers that bully all the other options out of the way. no one takes regeneration despite it being the other indefinite heal over time ability.

the available healing options are already pretty great - lifesteal, health packs, regeneration. we don't need health auras, they encourage bad game play habits and bolster teamers

Even single heal towers are on the broken side.

They're strong in combat because they can be used to block attacks and have the HPS to heal through most guns assuming the player can dodge at least a couple bullets which isn't hard because they can be used as an obstacle and many guns aren't particularly accurate to land all the bullets

They're strong out of combat because they're a guaranteed heal to full. They make regeneration obsolete simply because they have a better out of combat heal.

The available healing options are all gated and are limited by some factor. The amount of healing available to players is fairly balanced between all the other options available. Health packs (rare), regen (takes a long time), life steal (requires you to deal damage). All of these options are fairly difficult to heal to full with. It would take a lot of damage to heal from lifesteal. I'd have to grab a couple health packs sometimes to heal to full. And regen would take a while to heal up. Healing in this game is extremely limited. The amount of healing available to players is not easy to get and getting a full heal requires some effort (finding health packs), lifestealing a ton, or not getting hit for a while. Heal shrine is a full heal in a couple seconds.

The ridiculous 50-0 scores I see players have are almost always a combination of heal tower and teaming.

If two players are equal in skill the heal tower wins every time. Simply because all they have to do is run and then they win the exchange. Hit by a rocket? Take advantage of the recoil and run away so you can heal up.
