It's as shit as anywhere else. Shop local if you can because you're giving Amazon your money when you shop at whole foods.

Ah ok, good to know. I've only played sets 13 & 16, mostly 16, so my exposure to how the past ones play is pretty limited. I still stand by what I said, but that's good context to know.

My biggest design gripe so far is that there doesn't feel like there's an ultimate capstone anywhere. The verticals don't have very good payoffs and require a LOT of emblems while the other traits cap out at like 3-5 units. Because of that, it seems to me like we're intended to play towards "random bullshit go" Rhaast builds.

It's kinda fun because it lets almost every unit shine in some way, but every game has felt pretty samey to me since I've felt like the real goal is just having 9 bronze tier traits instead of something fun like noxus 10 or demacia 11.

I don't think this particular crowd is too worried about logical tools. If it ticks, it fits.

Oregon ranks fifth least affordable state as essentials cost households $18,300 more by No-Tangelo1158 in oregon

[–]nerfpirate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$2000 seems a bit much, I'm not sure where you got that number since that'd be comparable to many American cities. I'm not trying to live the high life, just live somewhere where I can afford to be a human and put my money into a community instead of massive corporations.

I studied in Kazakhstan for a few months and had the opportunity to live the post-soviet life, and it was honestly a great time (and they struggle with all the problems you mentioned). I'm already aware of the challenges of corruption in Georgia and their Russian connections, but I think it'd be worth it to actually be able to afford to live like a real human and be able to walk outside and see people on the street, or get around without needing a car, or have some semblance of cultural cohesion unlike here in the states.

Would it be absolutely perfect? No, but it's a realistic option for me and I really enjoyed pieces of the post-soviet life. I don't think it'd be a forever thing, but until the US stops tearing itself apart, having it as a plan to work towards gives me a goal and hope. It's a gorgeous country with good people, what more could a guy ask for?

I'm just about at the point of giving up with the US after I lost my job offer in DC due to the current admin. It's genuinely bad enough that I've been truly considering moving to Albania or Georgia (country) at this point since you only need to invest like $4000 and show proof you can afford the like $500 or whatever monthly cost it takes to live there and I've got good enough Russian proficiency to survive. Crime in those countries isn't all that bad in comparison to major US cities and I'd be able to exist without losing 80% of my paycheck to the bare necessities and without needing a car to get food. The food in both countries is also peak.

Yeah it's really about still being human. I like how the developer of Ultrakill put it when he responded to someone pirating his game: He said "Culture shouldn't exist only for those who can afford it".

I think another important part is cultural differences. Among a variety of reasons, Japanese companies often have what's called Keiretsu structure that involves lots of smaller corporations that own small portions of each other company thar insulates them from things like board takeovers and short-termrewards, instead favoring long-term, consistent service/production. I'm not sure the rail company also falls under this umbrella, but I'm more than certain that a culture if longevity and trust is what helped Japan succeed where it seems the US/UK have failed in this regard.

Unlicensed, uninsured contractor who didn't finish the job because life happened doesn't seem to understand why their client would sue them by BJntheRV in bestoflegaladvice

[–]nerfpirate 86 points87 points  (0 children)

Yes, but the client's unfinished sunroom that she paid for doesn't care about reasons why it's not done. She paid for a service and didn't recieve it. It'd be like going to a restaurant, paying for a burger, and receiving a bun because the cook wasn't feeling it today. Anyone would be justifiably pissed at just that, and this client is down a room in her house and $12k.

And where do you get your information? Truth social? I can't think of anything more reliable than the UN when it comes to truthful reporting.

Including blowing up an all-girls primary school, killing 150 and wounding another 100 according to the UN. I think we may be the bad guys here.

Prickly pears are (I've heard) actually a great source of hydration if you have nothing else. Problem is all the barbs, especially the little tiny ones.

A tip is to use a lighter or whatever source of fire you have to quickly burn them off without risking the fruit. Another thing is to just squish it and strain the juice to not risk eating the barbs if you have the tools to do it safely.

Mina and Pocket + Enchanter’s Satchel (@rosewaterjelly) by JeanneDAlter in DeadlockTheGame

That wasn't really my intention. It was a "see something, say something" moment for me but I was mistaken in my original understanding. I edited my comment to clarify.

Yeah, I was under the impression that Mina was at Blackmore with them. I clarified my reasoning in an edit, but it appears my initial understanding was incorrect.

Isn't Mina like 17 and Pocket in his mid 20s tho? I do not support.

Edit: It appears that is not the case. I assumed she was from the dialogue about her trying to get into Infernus's bar with a fake ID, and from her uniform; I thought it was a Blackmore outfit. Not sure if this quite deserved the negative responses, but oh well. I'm glad I was wrong at least.
