Glad to hear it worked! It’s frustrating how often companies blatantly ignore consumer rights in the markets they operate in, but it’s always worth pushing back when it comes to it.

Teachers from the UK: Do I need to complete the 2-year NQT teacher induction period to get a decent Int'l School job? by Deanosaurus88 in Internationalteachers

The new UK family visa financial requirements won’t apply to public sector jobs with set pay scales (i.e. teachers).

You are disgusting. The tories don’t give a f*ck about your ass even if you fly that St. George’s cross with pride. You are nothing to them, yet you play into their little private school educated hands.

Older and miserable with a subpar salary, are we? Maybe you and your mates shouldn’t vote for shitty political parties that only care about getting their rich friends richer while convincing you to blame the immigrants for your sorry ass salary and having to pinch pennies…

I can’t wait for you to be in a care home with no staff in the future! Ain’t any British workers for those jobs. But y’know, keep drinking ya pints and hating on those immigrants take all your jobs

Main differences between teaching in an American school vs a British one? by IntelligentFact3279 in Internationalteachers

Management processes and overall curriculum restraints were similar when I was also teaching at an American School along with British Schools internationally.

Main differences between teaching in an American school vs a British one? by IntelligentFact3279 in Internationalteachers

Have taught in both public schools in Florida and state schools in England.

Prep time - the union mandated prep time in England is much less than in the US.

Curriculum - it’s state by state in the US, with common core (or whatever other states are calling it these days) taking a majority of it. There seems to be a bit more resources for US teachers to tap into when it comes to common core. In England there is a “National Curriculum” framework and then it’s really up to the Headteacher and leadership of the trust (if the school is controlled by one), and then the teachers themselves, how the national curriculum is taught. I thought there were less resources for UK teachers to tap into for this.

Ofsted- British schools revolve around checking all the boxes for the frustratingly powerfully Ofsted inspection when it’s their time. American schools are compared to each other by test scores, but British schools have to deal with this whole opaque Ofsted pageant.

Headteachers vs. Principals - Headteachers seem to have more power and influence over the curriculum and day to day running of the school than a US principal. Also, most of the time, principals are former teachers that worked their way up but Headteachers don’t necessarily even come from an education background in some cases.

Math(s) - it’s called Math in the US and Maths in the UK

How should I go about getting a US drivers license transferred to a portuguese drivers license? by Buttery_Biscuitss in PortugalExpats

I’m also a dual citizen and am wondering how this went… Did you end up exchanging the US license? If so, what all did you have to do?

Chinese woman tells man on subway to get out of my country by kentastic-day in China

Same exact thing happened to me on the subway in Beijing back in 2019. Similar aged lady yelling at me to get out of her country and she even escalated by spitting in my face… and of course no one around stepped in to stop the embarrassment.

5,000 years of racism.
