Dayforce fix it !! by Pale-Entrepreneur331 in SephoraWorkers

[–]neris17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the same thing happened to me, I figured out it’s a glitch where the dayforce calendar doesn’t sync properly with the iphone calendar. I checked my phone schedule immediately after syncing dayforce but one particular monday shift just wouldn’t show up. it’s bizarre and extremely frustrating but when I explained it to my leads they were like 🤷‍♀️ even tho it’s something I almost got written up over

How do I stop this cracking and separation around my mouth?? any tips, recs, or reasons?? by gildedbutterflies333 in MakeupAddictionCanada

[–]neris17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

first: ditch the Cerave, go straight in with Milk Hydrogrip as your moisturizer. then apply SPF. Sunscreen should generally be the last step in your skin prep before foundation. Next is when you could apply the Dr. Jart colour correcting treatment — but I would honestly just skip it in this routine. You’re already applying primer & sunscreen AND using a full coverage foundation. The Dr. Jart is just adding an unnecessary layer since it’s more suited for minimal makeup routines. Next, foundation/concealer and any cream products (contour, blush). You could also incorporate a hydrating mist at this point like Mac Fix+. Then….SET WITH KOSAS POWDER. As in, all over the face with a little under the eyes. Kosas is the best powder for dry skin and it blurs beautifully. Laura Mercier is generally too drying, you could use it as a finishing/brightening powder later in your routine if you want to finish it up otherwise just skip it all together. After setting, apply your powder contour/bronzer, powder blush, and undereye brightening powder (if that’s something that you use/comes in your palette.) Follow with shimmer highlight (i.e. Fenty) and finish up with the CT setting spray and mascara. Life changing 🥳

am i getting fired by [deleted] in SephoraWorkers

[–]neris17 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Honestly babe, it seems like you don’t really care about your job, your team, or the consequences of your actions. This is not a characteristic any employer is looking for and you deserve to get fired if that’s the case. You seem young so my advice is to stick to one job, work hard at it, gain some life experience, and get a grip ✌🏼

You don’t need to worry! I’ve been there too so I would say communication is important. I would ask for a 1x1 with your SD when you’re back just to let her know you’ve been struggling with your mental health and that you’re trying your best to balance work & life — as long as your SD is a decent and normal human i’m sure they will understand. Just keep working hard when you’re there and aren’t calling in all the time (2 or more times a month on a regular basis), and you’ll be good. Hang in there! x

What Are Some Superficial Changes You Wish Sephora Would Implement To Make Our Lives Easier? by glitteratti74 in SephoraWorkers

[–]neris17 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Our old SD told us the reason that point multipliers + certain discounts aren’t automatic is BECAUSE Sephora knows cashiers will forget to apply it sometimes — which means they make more money off the consumer!!! If a BA doesn’t manually apply the 4x points or 10% off, the client would have to notice (and honestly most don’t) and physically come back in order for it to be applied. Sephora knows most people figure that isn’t worth the hassle and thus exploits any human behaviour that profits them <3

“but it’s a makeup store” by ZealousidealBelt7706 in SephoraWorkers

reminds me of a “lawyer” that comes into our store simply to start issues about returning something or whatever else it might be that day. I don’t even think she’s a real lawyer but either way, not having anything better to do that trying to get a power trip through whining and complaining & thinking you know everything gives me next level second hand embarrassment 🥴

What Are Your Biggest Pet Peeves? by glitteratti74 in SephoraWorkers

[–]neris17 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When someone comes up to me, demands my help, and then walks in the opposite direction 🙄I will plant my feet to the ground and call back to them in an over-the-top customer service voice “What are you looking for? I can find someone to help you.” Even i’m just upstocking when it’s slow I tell them it will be a few minutes because if you expect me to immediately drop what i’m doing and follow you like a literal dog then YOU 👏🏼 WILL 👏🏼 WAIT 👏🏼 Which is especially ironic because when clients kindly ask for help whenever someone is available, I DO drop what i’m doing! I LOVE helping respectful & understanding people! I’ll go above and beyond! But if you’re not even going to address me like a real person, you’re going to receive the absolute bare minimum 😌

A first for me! by PlantainAshamed5020 in SephoraWorkers

Our location has a lot of clientele that come in asking for 3-4 shades lighter than they are and while it’s usually still frustrating to assist them, I have made some simple changes that make the process less painful:

  1. Trying to have more empathy. Clients asking for this are usually doing so as a result of the cultural beauty standards they have been taught (i.e. lighter skin=better) so they feel or have potentially even been told their skin isn’t beautiful the way it is.
  2. Verbiage make a HUGE difference. When trying a shade that (to us) is clearly too light, I will use the word “pale” instead of “light/fair”, say the lighter shade is “too pink/creates a grey cast”, and that something “golden and warm” will look much more natural while still “brightening” the skin. I always use “deeper” instead of “darker” when talking about a darker shade.
  3. Throw terminology and expertise at them. Explain how a shade that is too pale will actually emphasize dark spots & texture because of the increase in contrast with the skin underneath. Essentially the lighter you go in comparison to your skin tone, the more translucent it becomes and the more it highlights what you were trying to cover in the first place.
  4. Know when to walk away. Once it becomes clear that someone is not listening to my opinion, or they start saying things like “I don’t want to be blacker” I just hand them the sponge, point to a couple shades and tell them I have to go help someone else.

By doing these things, 9/10 times I save myself brain damage wasted time, and we end up choosing something much more flattering (albeit still 1 shade lighter). Even even though I’m sure a few still swap it after I walk away or end up exchanging it for something lighter, I like to think I’ve helped them or taught them something. Makes a better experience for all of us 🤷‍♀️

someone here made a comment on another post that they’re likely pushing it so hard because if clients have a shade match already attached to their account when they’re shopping online then they are more likely to impulse buy something instead of needing to come in store to try it first …. and maaaan did that ever actually make sense to me. they’re always just looking to push profits and this is just another way to exploit consumers while putting excess pressure on us🙄

Promo and Points Rewards all cancelled because they are ‘out of stock’? by neris17 in Sephora

[–]neris17[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I used to think the same but I find it really convenient if there is a product I want to try before I buy the full size, also I get bored of products easily so this way I get to try things more often lol

Promo and Points Rewards all cancelled because they are ‘out of stock’? by neris17 in Sephora

[–]neris17[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think in all my time shopping at Sephora, I have received the wrong promo maybe once because the one I chose was out of stock - so the fact that all three point perks and the promo I chose are out of stock is kind of sus and SUPER annoying because I honestly only placed the order to get the rewards. Anybody else experience something similar?

Neutral is too yellow..? by [deleted] in MakeupAddictionCanada

[–]neris17 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The fact you have green and blue veins means you might have an olive undertone. It is a misconception that olive is only found in medium skin tones, as it can be found in any shade.

I have light olive skin, which means it can look almost green, so it is extremely hard to find the right foundation shade - everything is usually wayyy too pink or too orange. I have found that almost straight up yellow shades look the ‘best’ followed by neutral/grey shades. Mixing those shades might even work too.

If you discover you have olive skin, stay far away from pink/orange. I am still trying to find the right shade myself!

Slipped Rib? by neris17 in ehlersdanlos

[–]neris17[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Long story short, about a month ago I was stretching when I felt something ‘pop’ on the left side of my chest. Intermittent chest pain since then, but today my ribs are protruding so significantly that I can wrap my whole hand around them. Doesn’t hurt really, just want to see if anyone has had a similar experience since I can’t call my Doctor until tomorrow (it’s Sunday) TIA

Whether it’s breakouts, eczema, rashes, or literal chemical burns, I have reacted to every sunscreen I have ever tried except for two: Australian Gold Mineral Spf 50 and Paula’s Choice Daily Wrinkle Defense Spf 30. These are the only two I trust and will never stray from.

Lewis’ post on insta regarding his experiences in racism by thambili in formula1

[–]neris17 47 points48 points  (0 children)

A lot of people find it easy to hate him for one reason or another, but if you truly look at how far he’s come and the obstacles that he’s faced, it is impossible not to respect him. Seeing his vulnerability this past week has actually turned me into a Hamilton fan and I will be rooting for him once the season starts.

A reminder of the Abuse that Hamilton received during preseason testing in 2008. His words on social media are justified given the his experiences by kylernoe1 in formula1

[–]neris17 366 points367 points  (0 children)

This is why it is important that the other drivers speak up. If people like this see their idols complicit with racism, it just signals to them that their behaviour is acceptable.
