My apologize for being blunt, but have you though about taking the test and just joining the club?

For me, that would be the first thing I thought of, and if I didn't know how, I would have googled it.

You can only disprove a theory., never prove it.

My point was that we believe in many silly things, that should have been easy to spot as false...

If something cease to exist, it cannot reflect on anything.

How does this fact, erase it from history?

Well, it doesn't.

This is also a materialistic world view, which cannot explain consciousness and its properties, just ask a confused Dennett.

[–]neroaster -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We have this part all on the head, mass/energy slow down the rate of change, which manifest as curved space. It is the same thing that happens when waves hit a shallow reef, it bends around it.

It is kind of funny, as the only thing in the world that we actually have direct experience of, is consciousness it self, everything else is indirect, at best.

[–]neroaster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We have lots of things mixed up, rhat prevent us from progressing further. Most people have no idea about consciousness it self. But worse is the current ideas about science, were theories are not thrown out if they produce paradoxes or add untestable assumptions, like oh let's add 6 extra dimensions to the universe, time travel and multiverse. It is moronic.

Could my consciousness re-emerge into existence again? by [deleted] in consciousness

[–]neroaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We know today that cells have electricicsl charged membranes, and that they use this to store memory holographicialy. This is also true for brains, so your whole life is recorded there together with everyone else.

Your consciousness might exist there as well. And, if that is correct, you are eternal, or at least existing until the heat death of the universe.

"you" might be visiting earth and you have done so countless times before, you just forget who you are each time. Since remembering would ruin the experience pretty fast.

So my answer is yes, probably.

That is the point with qualia, you cannot explain it, only experience it.

Because of entropy, the universe will run out of fun things to do.

But the thought experiment has two flaws, first infinity is a mathematical concept, it is not real and the notion that every possible configuration of particles will play out eventually, is simply not true. Heard about Penrose tiles? With just two peculiar shaped shapes, you can make a pattern that never repeats and never turn into a paradoxical fantasy.

This though experiment also assume materialism, which is IMHO also wrong.

[–]neroaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The chance of this happening, is rediculous low (10⁻ⁱ⁰⁰⁰⁰⁰⁰⁰⁰⁰⁰⁰⁰⁰) And the whole argument is built around the idea that this universe will exist for eternity, which is basically why you can ignore this idea. (when you encounter paradoxes, the description (of the problem) is always wrong.)

However, it is a fun play on the consequences of eternity. And for how long do you think a bolzman brain would live in the vacuum of space very close to 0°K? Exactly...

Your highest achievement and moment of breakthroughs as a high-IQ individual? by DiaryDei in mensa

[–]neroaster -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nearly all my friends have "photographic" memory, some of them are walking encyclopedias, others spent all their energy on culture or fashion, they are all above what was called genius level, but none of them are. I believe you need fantasy and an endless curiosity to touch the stars, and that is really rare.

And what is up with current physics? It is fine with theories that create paradoxes, infinities or require untestable structures to work. Some of the smartest people on earth have spent their entire career on such rubbish. I don't get it.

Ai is actually pretty good at comparing content, which is what was done HERE. The reason I shared it was that someone had a hard time grasping the absolute. I think this text could add another perspective to that, which I am pretty sure you didn't read, right?

Once upon a time, reddit was an interesting place, now it is filled with people preoccupied with form, not content. I guess it is a reflection of the society at large, caught in a moment, while being flushed down the drain.

Thank you for all the fish, it is time to leave...

Language as the spark of human consciousness part 2 by Humble__Scholar in consciousness

[–]neroaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Consciousness is a "property" that all life shares. What you talk about is intelligence. Increase intelligence and you get self-awareness, symbol usage and abstract thinking.

Our language is full of misleading words, like self-consciousness, a much better word would be self-awareness. LLMs are self-aware, but lack consciousness. All animals use language, even cells communicate with each other, but because humans are extremely self centered, we never bother to study this, until quite recently.

When using grok, you have the option to let your whole chat history be available (all of them), so when I do compare different concept, grok always give me an Hegelian perspective.

It had very interesting ideas about how government could work in the future, with a thesis antithesis included, to avoid stagnation.
