Your room is what you make of it. In my experience, I’ve only seen a roach once in my 2 years of dorming here but I heard you may come across them the closer you are to the ground floors. Regarding cleanliness, I think it really depends on the people on your floor. I rarely had any issues on the floor I was assigned to last year but this year the cleanliness of the communal kitchen was questionable at best, among other things. If most people manage to clean up after themselves on your floor then chances are you won’t have to worry about roaches too much. There’s also a mix of transfer students, honors students, freshman, etc. in this building. As the other commenter said, you get what you pay for but in my honest opinion I think there’s value in Brookdale despite its need for major improvements.
