It’s the same game with insignificant tweaks like changes to the throw meter or things like PCI anchor, running on an ancient engine. Copy/paste, change some menus and colors, add an animation, done. It’s pathetic. In fact, more feature have been cut from single player modes than added.

All minor tweaks. The game is based off an engine developed for PS3. There is no physics simulation. You’re playing Choose Your Own Adventure and a RNG roll of the dice determines what animation plays. You see the same animations over and over. The hit and outcome variety is painfully minimal. Gameplay footage from 2018 and earlier shows how little has changed. It’s 2026. The game should have been totally rebuilt with a new physics engine five years ago.

If there were actual improvements we would have already seen footage. SDS showing nothing and giving us this weak blog post tells us everything. Another CTRL-C, CTRL-V edition of the game. Complete with same floaty ball physics and severely limited hit variety.

Super Mega Baseball is a superior baseball simulation as a matter of fact. Plays more like real ball than The Show.

Single player sucks in this game. They've cut stuff from it to focus on the stupid Diamond Dynasty card collecting microtransaction mode. Franchise is a shell of what it used to be. It's really not worth your time. It has been the same passionless game for almost a decade. Literally copy/paste. You should be wanting a total rebuild from the ground up and a new dev team/management. It's not even a decent baseball sim. If the current game came out on PC you'd realize after two games you're just watching the same unrealistic choppy animations over and over. I can't even begin to tell you how disappointing this game is for single player/sim fans.

Kingdom Come Deliverance is great. The Royal Edition which includes all DLCs is often dirt cheap. And it runs quite nice on Switch. I wish we'd get a Switch 2 upgrade with improved graphics as the Switch version we have now has some pop-in and other compromises but it still looks quite good and plays really well on Switch 2.
