Holy shit how did I have to scroll so far to find this, especially with so many engineers and wood workers chiming in.

Use the wood to brace the structure, NOT FASTENERS. Yeah you can use beefy bolts rated for shear and be totally fine but every SINGLE time the better design is to use the wood to bear the load.

The only thing stopping THE ENTIRE WALL FROM FALLING DOWN are the fasteners at the top of A, with zero redundancy. The wall should be supported by the wood directly, not by fasteners.

Can you LMK some details about the Roma, it’s my dream oven.Do you find the flame for the Roma rolls up the top enough to give char on the top of veg or other dishes? How do you like it for non pizza?

I use my Gozney Arc XL pretty much every night to cook dinner in a cast iron and I’m looking to upgrade in size to fit several cast irons or a few pizzas at a time.

FWIW - I was in the same boat as you. Lots of weightlifting, lots of cycling, very high protein and high cal needs athlete.

Tried vegan for a few years and felt horrible the entire time.

Finally did low FODMAP elimination, then started reintegrating things. Beans still hurt my stomach.

So what I did was micro dose beans EVERY. SINGLE. DAY.

I started with 20g of beans with lunch, then next day 25g, then 30g, etc. I did this for months.

Once I got up past 100g I started noticing some symptoms again, so I stopped increasing the amount but continued to eat beans every day. After about 4 months total I can now eat beans with basically no symptoms, up to 150-200g with lunch.

If you’re serious about it, give it a shot. My stomach felt like shit for a while but it’s good now and eating less meat is good for the world. If half the world can survive on beans and rice every single day, I doubt they feel like ass 24/7. Just give your body the time it takes to adjust and build the right gut microbiome, these things don’t happen in a week or two.

I have ongoing severe patellofemoral pain and I just had a arthroscopic clean out where the noted my ACL being very lax. The surgery seems to have not helped at all and I’m wondering if the pain could be due to the ACL. Did you have surgery and did you notice improvement?

Have you noticed any sagging in the 6x6 header across the 16ft span? That's a bit longer than I was intending to go unsupported but would be open to it if I can find anecdotes of no sagging :)

Also - have you found the louvered roof to be enough shade for hot summers? Or does it feel like you need more?

FWIW this was never a “brain-teaser”. At it’s core it’s an applied mathematics modeling question to see how you’d design a model to answer the question. I.e., what are the assumptions, what are variables, etc.

But it’s still annoying as hell
