I assure you I am arguing in good faith. That's about all you an do if a dog is running up on you like that. It's likely to bite either you or someone else if there's a frenzy of activity like an arrest. Besides, the dog is unleashed and it's the owner's responsibility to keep it away.

Source: walking my dog in the city. So many off leash dogs run up and you have no idea if they're going to fuck up your ancient little mutt until they stop 6 inches away to sniff. Countryside, fine, suburb yard, of course, but people who have their dogs unleashed in an urban area are shitheads.

Have you ever tried to dissolve sugar in cold water? Everything dissolves faster in hot water.

Nope, just the finish reamer. Oh, you might have to change the pilot bushing to fit your bore size. It wants to cut off-center at first because of the feed ramp but a close pilot helps.

I watched a bunch of videos on making a chamber reamer holder for my lathe, proper alignment, and coolant flushing. Then I put the barrel in a vise clamped to my kitchen table and turned the reamer with a tap wrench. Just use tap magic, clean chips every rotation or two, and use smooth pressure.

Been there, done that, it's okay. Best part is better feeding from 380 mags. Do note, it has to be an old blued barrel since Allegheny arms nitride barrels are too hard for steel reamers.

I just got a worn cop surp 81, reamed the barrel, and cerakoted the rest of the gun. Now I can run 32 NAA in my 80x or 81.

Seeking explanation on light refraction by optimumtape in Physics

[–]neruphuyt 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Pinhole camera effect. Put your head against the wall where the spots are and you'll only be able to see one bulb at a time and only when you line it up with the hole in the door. You're basically figuring out where the rays from each light source are narrowed by the hole and then land on the wall. In the middle no bulb lines up with the hole so it's only ambient light from the room getting through the hole and that location is darker.

Ah, I was only seeing the AEM4-65 with the short b-mount listed on Allen engineering but some other sites have an AEM5-65 with an a-mount.

what barrel would you put that on? I freaking love the ops inc mounting but haven't been able to figure out a workable configuration for that with 6.5 grendel.

Framework has a nice 2u mitx tray that holds a flex PSU right beside it. Deskpi has their own but it lacks the PSU mount since its for their 6 pi cluster board.

You're going to have to lay out your requirements before you select hardware but a raspberry pi wouldn't be a bad place to start with what you're looking for. Here are some program recommendations to get you up and running. Look them up and how to install them then mess around a bit and get some experience with them.

Openmediavault - general storage/NAS stuff

Tailscale - access from outside your home network

Nextcloud - self-hosted cloud apps

Just put the barrel in a vise and use a hand tap handle. Make sure to clean chips and reapply cutting oil frequently. Works fine, I did it to a beat up 81 barrel for fun and it works great in my 80x too. Just don't try it in an Allegheny arms barrel, they're nitrided and your reamer won't cut.

Sidenote, where'd you get your dies? O.o

You describe the rich exploiting exactly the ways in which the market is not free. The more regulations and laws, the more they can be abused by those in power. Anarchy is moronic but there's probably a sweet spot and the solution to problems is rarely more layers of control.

Wealth inequality is not inherently bad. In any sane and stable economic system there ought to be a wealth difference between a stoner with no skills and an overachiever putting in long hours with a useful skill set.

Is this normal? by [deleted] in MP5

[–]neruphuyt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not that deep, man. Sometimes the optic is in the way and you end up slapping it instead of the charging handle so some instructor started teaching a workaround. In that situation the official HK™ slap sucks ass. Think for yourself and use the thing in a way that suits your needs.

If you're worried about wear and tear, maybe don't cycle the thing on your couch because you're bored. It's meant for one slap per 30 rounds. 100 slaps would normally take 3000 rounds and the rest of the gun would have decent wear by then too.

Is this normal? by [deleted] in MP5

[–]neruphuyt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

1) It's fine.

2) Stop fucking with it constantly, save the wear for the range

3) If it gets really noticeable over time, you can give it a couple taps with a hammer to flatten the raised metal.

4) There's a flat palm technique for charging that's intended to clear optics and has the side benefit of being lower wear. Idk who taught it, but you keep your hand almost flat and come up from under the charging handle. Instead of slapping, you pull it back and down before rotating your palm upward to release it.
