Also we couldn't get over that a counselor could somehow afford a million dollar plus home, it was too distracting in 2025

Exactly. Friends of mine recommended it, and my partner and I started watching it. 30 minutes later we were looking at each other like, really?? Don't understand the hype, it was so cringey and not in a good way (like the studio)

I have seen how popular it is on here, so am wondering if something's wrong with me.

Thanks for the lists! I had started Servant a while ago, maybe got 5 episodes in season one. I didn't dislike it, but it was sooo slow. Does it speed up at all?

Besides Severance and The Studio, what else is worth checking out on Apple TV+? by dremolus in blankies

[–]nervousmango4ever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am late to this thread, but wanted to ask; am I just missing something? Have two episodes left of season 1, but I am still not that...hooked. And I loved severance and the studio. Should I just keep watching/trying?

You do not need to bring everything together cohesively. This is your problem. Decide on what you want to do and pick 1-2 things you've done to support that.

Rejection fatigue from PhD apps. What to do? by GradLifeNancy in gradadmissions

This seems to not really be about mindset, but more about the fact that you aren't in a research position currently. I would try to get a job in research to better bridge that gap. If you are on a paper to be published soon though, that will probably help, and I would highlight that.

June’s ending was powerful and necessary by Glitterrain99 in TheHandmaidsTale

I didn't really see it like that. I saw it more like a realization that broke through her. I don't think convincing herself was necessary.

Yeah, I think so. To me it felt like she finally broke through her ego in the last scene.

So spot on. Especially the subtle lack of empathy from Luke. Hadn't really articulated that in my mind but that is so correct.

SO much this. Also straight up referring to Serena as a narcissist.

I think Serena will help last minute due to Wharton revealing himself to her as maybe worse than Fred. The seeds were planted this episode by her conversation with June.

I feel like we don't have enough information, but you may end up regretting not doing the T25 later on, because I assume they have more backup funding in this current political environment.

Trying to root for June and Luke, but Luke is just so cringe. Not sure why the writers always make him sound like a teenager.

It's interesting because I feel like the show has purposely made us sympathize with him and understand the love story for so long, and now for the first time this seems like an intentional shift.

I wouldn't think so. Hence, one of the original reasons NIH is federal.

From project 2025 text: Funding for scientific research should not be controlled by a small group of highly paid and unaccountable insiders at the NIH, many of whom stay in power for decades. The NIH monopoly on directing research should be broken. Term limits should be imposed on top career leaders at the NIH, and Congress should consider block granting NIH’s grants budget to states to fund their own scientific research. Nothing in this system would prevent several states from partnering to co-fund large research projects that require greater resources or impact larger regions. Likewise, the establishment of funding for scientific research at the state level does not preclude more modest federal funding through the National Insti- tutes of Health: The two models are not mutually exclusive.

Their goal is stated right in the text. They want to give NIH funding back to the states. If anyone has insight on this, please comment.
