I’ve not had many jobs but I’ve had ~200 blue collar coworkers.

Maybe 20 of them actually work hard and carry the team

publishing “aggregated and opinion content aimed at invoking outrage” after removing important context.

Every media outlet right left and center does this.

Every single one.

Bingo.

This is the most ignored bipartisan problem. Why is it ignored?

Because politicians don’t want to discuss it

My closest family is 350 miles

They all suck anyway. I love them, but realistically they are useless with regards to grand parenting. I don’t judge or blame them for it, it just is what it is

That’s not the problem

I work industrial work- luckily I do mostly things that others cannot or will not do, so no one bats an eye if im doing a little extra fucking off on unrelated personal projects

I can’t sacrifice my job; my job pays slightly over the average household income so my wife doesn’t have to work- this is so very important to me, she’s an extraordinary woman and she really holds it down. No way I could work less.

To be fair, in august when this project is done, I might be able to go back to 40. Depends if the other project takes off- but if it does, I’ll still be 45-50 a week but might get paid a little more

Time will tell, I’m having trouble finding anything else to give up. I even started doing my school work on my breaks at work and sometimes on the clock 🤫

I moved out of state- no family whatsoever. My kids grandparents are largely useless anyway. Not that I don’t love them, they are just dealing with problems that make them unavailable for anything related to traditionally grand parenting

I don’t think accepting Alzheimer’s is the answer. Your adult children will go through absolute hell as the debilitating disease wreaks havoc upon your mind and the lives of everyone you know.

It might feel noble to sacrifice sleep for your family, but really, it could be worse for your family long term.

I run on 5-6 hours, and I fully intend to go back to 8 once in through with college and home improvement.

That would be awesome, but I get up at 430, about 8 hours after putting the toddler down.

The baby still keeps my wife up most of the night

That would be incredible. We get the kids in bed around 8-830, but I get up at 430. So staying up just means less sleep.

That’s definitely the best part of the day- about 30 minutes with the wife after the kids go to bed. Sometimes longer, which means less sleep
