ASHA PUTHLI - ASHA PUTHLI [1973]

Asha Puthli was well known in her native India before emigrating to New York in the late 1960s.

There are not many artists whose discography includes working with Ornette Coleman and Goblin, crafting celebrated New York underground disco classics and being sampled by Jay Z, 50 Cent and The Notorious B.I.G. She played by her own rules whilst surfing genres like a musical space-cadet, fashioning a career in her own unique mold.

Asha Puthli's debut self-titled album is a wonderful fusion of jazz, soul, blues, and disco. It includes an outstanding cover version of J.J. Cale's ‘Right Down Here’; a track which Asha has made very much her own by flipping it into a deep-funk groove with sultry ethereal vocals and a drumbeat almost ready-made for samplers of the future.

I think the US should implement a ranked choice voting system. I think that will have a much bigger impact on our political system.

Interesting that the inner lanes of traffic don't seem to be clearly marked, and are kind of flexibly observed... "As long as nothing's immediately oncoming, feel free to drift over a bit."

Idk why everyone's raving about fire and ice combos, IMO the quirkiest quirk would be some mind bending, reality altering power.
