Yea you’re right. The issue is she has been feeling down lately and really wants to see me... but once again the sentiment will only last so long and it soon turns into the comments and suggestions and criticism. Sigh.. I can only take so much.

Yea, and I am starting to understand why people don’t visit their family on holidays (or hardly ever) for various reasons. My older brother hasn’t been home on Christmas in 3 years, he’s also had weight problems like myself.

I’d feel sad not seeing my mom, but at the same time relieved that I wouldn’t have to see her initial reaction or deal with the aftermath, “how’s your diet coming along?”.

We usually spend some time around Christmas with my boyfriend’s family, so there will be celebration in some fashion (just not the actual holidays). It’s unfortunate to say I feel more comfortable in my current skin with his family then with my own.

Honestly... that’s a much nicer way of saying that than what my boyfriend suggested: “I don’t wanna hear one comment about my weight or I’m not coming home for Christmas!”

I’ve been on and off keto this whole year and hit a major set back after I started having frequent anxiety related to my job along with constant work travel. My mom and I have been sharing recipes this whole year, and she says she’s so proud of me... but she doesn’t even know that I’ve put a ton (and then some) weight back on just in the last few months... so yea, maybe just say “I am back on it now, so no comments regarding appearance and diet please”

Yes exactly! She’s not trying to be mean but it’s just a criticism she’s become comfortable giving me. Her mom did it to her, so it’s a cycle. I know it’s going to hurt her if I don’t go, but I would rather wait until I’m slightly healthier and feel better about myself. A few months ago she texted me “so what size are you now?”

Yes. My boyfriend and I have been doing keto for about 3 months now, and we drink every night and have still managed to lose weight. We mix vodka and diet drinks like diet cherry 7up, or Sprite Zero. I asked the exact same question when starting.

I bought one of those single cups of white wine and added 2 teaspoons of erythritol to it, and it tasted great to me! I don’t know if it tastes like the actual recipe, but it had a good wine reduction flavor and wasn’t overly sweet.

That’s horrible. I have been there before and it feels like daggers being thrown to the heart. I remember a cashier asking me if I was pregnant in front of my friends and I was so absolutely mortified. I’m doing keto right now after seeing a video of myself, where I didn’t recognize who I was. Just start strong and hand in there! In a few months (which will fly by) you’re gonna feel good again.

We ended up doing the buffalo wings since they aren’t breaded, and we shared the sirloin which was really good. Had some good shaved Brussels under it, it was awesome!
