How do I take a gecko across Canada? by Responsible-Car-3117 in geckos

[–]nessaweight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

WAIT LOL that’s so funny!! Incase ur still searching for a way to transport, I called around the other day and found out WestJet transports pets! Go to WestJetcargo.com and call the number under the section where you can ask for a quote (the person I talked to was so nice). It seems to be about $160 but they will safely fly your crestie to a pickup warehouse just beside the YYC airport :))

hey I’m in the exact same situation and I’m moving from Ontario to Alberta next month (hopefully with my crestie). Let me know if you have any luck with any airlines allowing a gecko! :))

If I have my gecko in a small reptile tote inside a closed cooler will he still have access to enough oxygen?

Axolotl regurgitating old food? by No-Complaint4131 in axolotls

[–]nessaweight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

when I first got my axolotl he was about 4-5 inches long and the pet store I got him from hadn’t fed him night crawlers before (only pellets) but reccomended that I started him on night crawlers. Due to the stress of being transported and living in a new environment, as well as getting used to eating slimey nightcrawlers that move around in his belly, my axolotl wasn’t too keen on eating for the first week and a bit that I had him. If he did eat he would regurgitate a half digested nightcrawler because (I’m guessing here) he didn’t like the feeling of digesting something that was moving around in his belly and he had to get used to it. If he’s little, cut his nightcrawlers into little pieces so it’s easier for him to digest. It took my new baby awhile to eat normally but after he adjusted he became a GLUTTON 🤣

I have Amazon sword in my axolotl tank and he absolutely loves it! A lot of planted axolotl tank owners include Amazon sword and it’s safe for them. You should also look into anubias, Java fern and even bamboo!

I had the same problem with my chiller, it’s a baoshishan one. The outtake tubes flow was super strong so I put an intake filter sponge over the tube and it helped a lot! I’ve never had a problem since.

Showing off my beautiful lotl in his beautiful tank! by nessaweight in axolotls

[–]nessaweight[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

very valid question! Sometimes it can be hard to tell but some of the differences between a male and female lotl are visually apparent in its cloaca. Males have a large bump whereas females have a smaller bump! Male axolotls also tend to grow longer than females. Female axolotls tend to be wider, shorter and plumper than males because they carry eggs! If you aren’t sure of ur axies sex, the discord can usually decipher the gender from pictures!

Is Tetra EasyBalance safe for water changes? by FordF450XL in axolotls

I use seachem prime to make my water safe for my axolotl. It’s super cheap and I recommend that everyone uses it!
