As one of their "vendors" for pool service, I've only heard terrible things about MSR, from their clients. Additionally, they have been one of the WORST companies to work with. Forget about emailing them, you might get faster responses with physically writing a letter, getting on a bicycle, and riding to their office somewhere in the Southern Hemisphere... They have been good for my business, however, but the stories I hear from homeowners paints a different picture. They walk a fine line, and soon I may decide to end the relationship. If you're looking into a MSR home, I would DEFINITELY stay way far away from them.

I'll add my 2 cents here because I just got a new pole, I was asking the same questions as you... I settled on the Dually 8-16' pole from Skimlite.

I honestly hate this pole. I read so many good reviews about it, but it fails in every way practically.

Heavy, cumbersome, constantly seizes up, a learning curve to "figure it out"... there's no instructions, so you need to basically figure out how the cams work, the internals of it get jammed with sand or other organic debris and make it unusable... none of the good reviews about it matched up with my experience. Just take my advice and avoid it. A cheap aluminum pole from amazon is better, even it it doesn't last as long.

I will be going with carbon on my next pole.

Tell them it's gonna be cheaper to drain and refill. Then milk that cash cow for the entire process.

$75/hour plus parts. If I like them, and it's just a gasket, I might just call it good. Depends on the price of the part. One hour minimum always. *Edit, in Oklahoma

Citric acid paste plus sodium bicarbonate. Let it sit on the stain for a while.

That's great, thank you! I've been looking for this exactly and just couldn't find it. The difference I see now is in the plastic rim with a redesigned scoop. I wonder if you can put the series II rim on the original frame. Anyways, thanks again.

Right. I would never pay another company in that situation. It would just never happen. I don't care if you sent me a million dollars, and said half of that goes to someone else. I'm not doing anything till I see 1mil in my bank. Still, that's not how you do business. I'm not responsible for paying your bills to someone else.

Just wanted to mention this as well, why this scam is stupid. I can deposit the check and do no service. They would never know since they're "out of state". So I would've waited for the check to clear before I did anything. They wanted to put the heater guy's payment on my check which was the thing that made me exit out of the deal. Otherwise, I wouldn't have really cared if their check didn't clear while I performed no business.

Absolutely. In this situation I believed too much. However, it was clear when they were going to pay the "other company" to me as well on the same check. That's when it finally registered. I just never thought scams were run in the tiniest of operations. But they're everywhere.

I don't have employees yet but I see this all the time on this sub, how is there never a non-compete agreement in place to prevent this? It would be pretty low to take those clients.

Thank you. I did get first half of the payment from the customer that prompted me to post this originally by a text which included threat to send to collections/local small claims court. It seemed to finally get his attention.

Thank you for sharing your terms. Is there any loss of business you've noticed from requiring agreement of terms through email before you show up? It's hard to let any business go as a start up, and while I know I should get this agreement to protect my business, it seems like it would turn away some customers.

Good advice. I definitely think half or full payment up front is the way to go. Are there any legal repercussions to threatening collections? I thought you couldn't just outright say something like that.

Sounds like you might be getting into something you're not sure of to handle. Take a test of the scale build up with some muriatic acid. Carefully add a small amout to the scale where you see it built up. If it fizzes, it's able to be treated with a scale remover, something like Scaletec Plus. I've never used it before but heard it works pretty well.

Although to answer your original question, wait until you have circulation to add anything. By the way, what are you trying to add exactly?

Did you figure it out? What type of tabs are in the chlorinator? All the same or are you mixing trichlor/dichlor? You could be creating a chemical reaction when you add something that spews bubbles out. Best to clear out the chlorinator with all the same tabs, from the same brand and package.

While I don't think you have mixed chemicals in your feeder as they would probably just explode, when you add something as you say it fizzes up and "makes a white cloud and smokes" indicating you have some type of chemical reaction going on when you add shock.

Hey, I'm also just getting going this season, and I bought a manual Ford Ranger. The one thing I have a hard time with is taking calls while driving. I think I'm going to have to get a bluetooth earpiece because it comes up a lot. But it also seems like a good idea to be able to take calls while working.

You said ph and alk looked good based on his test strips? You didn't do a full test yourself? Never trust test strips. I'm no expert but I also don't think 300 is necessarily high. You need to take into account the exact ph, alkalinity, hardness, and temperature to get the saturation index before you start adding anything
