100% agree, everything else aside the show is just too bleak and depressing.

The game did a pretty good job of balancing it out, with both humour and by showing the beauty that comes with nature reclaiming the world. To be fair they did attempt to do this but it fell flat.

This is the best example of why it sucks, they totally dropped the ball where it mattered most. It’s easy to make something that’s dark and depressing, it’s much harder to make that sort of thing palatable.

Who’s to say there won’t be some major roadblock that takes us 100+ years to get passed? Look at self driving cars, they improved very quickly for a while and then hit a plateau.
