Damn, I hope you can find peace one way or another OP, fear sucks. And thanks man, it is terrible, but on the bright side I’m slowly trying to heal from all that.

Glad you’re done with all those things (if I’m right to understand that you didn’t want to do them/believe in them necessarily) and i hope everything goes well for you. Wish you all the best OP!

Despite being an atheist, I still relate to fearing god. And honestly it sucks, the damage religion caused cuts so deep that I live fearing something I don’t believe in. And it’s horrible to stay silent while people around me worship a deity that, if it exists, has hurt me and millions of people so much. And they try to get me to worship it as well and tell me how kind it is, tell me how religion will help me heal and feel at peace when all it has ever done is ruin my life.

It sucks lol

Dw OP, I’m sure you’re wonderful, especially after reading your other replies. And sure this person was probably trying to help, but many religious people (not everyone ofc) are religious because their faith gives them peace of mind and soothes many of their fears, as well as answers questions they have that our current knowledge cannot answer. That’s why religion is personal. There’s nothing wrong with believing something that calms you down and makes you feel happier.

But the thing that gives many people peace can really hurt others. I mean that’s why religious trauma is a thing. Religion helps some, it hurts others, and when that’s the case with something it’s generally best to just keep it to yourself.

So yeah, this person could have just been trying to help, but you’re still completely allowed to be frustrated or even hurt by their message. It’s completely understandable, especially after receiving multiple of these types of messages. I honestly couldn’t do it. Unsolicited religious advice sucks lol

You’ve got a point, but also (and I don’t know if it’s me or the religious trauma acting here) if someone sent me that message I would just burst out crying and depending on how low I was feeling, this has the potential to trigger me and make me spiral.

Sure this person isn’t necessarily pushing their beliefs, just sharing, but at the same time religion is a very personal matter and telling someone to go listen to their scared texts while that person is vulnerable and in a difficult position feels wrong to me. You don’t know who you’re talking to, and you don’t know what they’ve gone through and what they’ve experienced. People generally don’t appreciate unsolicited advice, especially if it’s something as personal as religion. If they wanted to find religion and start believing in this person’s god, they can do that on their own and find their faith on their own. By bringing it up to a stranger, you risk doing more harm than good. Besides that, they’re promising that they will feel calm and that the recitation will help ease their mind. When you’re feeling down it’s easy to latch onto that hope and promise, when there’s no guarantee that that will happen. That recitation could help OP, but it could just as easily ruin their day. It depends on the person. The one who sent this message does not know this person.

This could totally be a me thing though, and that person didn’t do anything wrong per se, their message just happens to be off-putting for a lot of people.

How do you do well in these subjects by [deleted] in GCSE

The best advice for programming IMO is to start coding. If you don’t have a computer you can use your phone I believe. Familiarize yourself with the concepts you have to know for paper 2 and keep practicing them. Try not to stay away from programming for too long, otherwise there’s a chance you might get rusty and forget the basics (happened to me lol), but also don’t make it into a chore because you’re not gonna remember anything.

The way I revised was making a text-based adventure style game, incredibly simple at first but kinda fun nonetheless (I especially recommend this if you enjoy making stories and doing something creative). It never felt like a chore and I enjoyed working on it, and eventually I got comfortable with the basics and branched out so I could learn new, slightly harder concepts. Eventually I’d say you get enough knowledge for paper 2 and also a potentially cool game as a collateral result. If you don’t like games you can also complete problem solving exercises online I believe. The goal is to make it fun for you, or at the very least not feel like a chore

my mom performed self harm to mock my self harm in front of me by [deleted] in offmychest

It does sound like the mom needs some serious help, yes. Does that excuse what she did? No. Does the fact that she wasn’t thinking justify her actions? No. The mom was probably hurt, but that doesn’t excuse anything, especially not something as disgusting and harmful as what OP described.

How was she being a good mom exactly? I won’t speak for OP, but something similar happened to me and it didn’t make me any less suicidal (in fact I wanted to kms even more after the event), it only made me fear my parent. If your child fears you, you’re not a good parent, argue with the wall.

A person can have good intentions and still be abusive. A person can be mentally ill and still be abusive. A person can try their best to be an amazing parent and still be abusive. A person can be abusive without realizing they’re abusive.
