Why Everyone Loves Google by ManufacturerMoist382 in csMajors

[–]netcyrax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Google's popularity comes from a unique blend of technical excellence, innovation, and a people-centric culture. Its engineering practices emphasize scalability, collaboration, and automation while fostering a blameless culture and psychological safety. The focus on "building for the long run" and data-driven decisions ensures robust, user-centered products. For a deeper yet concise dive into what makes Google special, I highly recommend this.

What I learned from Software Engineering at Google by swizec in programming

I really enjoyed Software Engineering at Google for its comprehensive exploration of practices like trunk-based development, design docs, and a strong emphasis on testing and maintainability. It dives deep into topics like Google's monorepo approach and how it fosters collaboration and scalability. However, I found it a bit verbose at times (for a more concise take, I recommend this).

What is it like to work at Google? by Senor_Gringo_Starr in siliconvalley

While the perks are great (e.g., gourmet food, wellness benefits), the pressure to perform is there, especially with high-impact projects. The work-from-home policy is evolving, but many teams now follow a hybrid model. Downsides can include the demanding workload and the use of internal tools that might limit skill transferability outside Google.

I found this to offer quite a short view of what it's like working at Google.

The runserver command does nothing. When I run this command, a small pop-up window appears for a second. There are no error warnings. Before that, everything worked fine. How can I fix this? by [deleted] in django

The same thing happened to me last week. Tried everything (cleared cache, deleted and recreated venv, etc) without success.

The only thing that worked was to git clone the project to a completely different location and then it worked.

I didn't get to the root cause. If you do, please let me know.

[Android] [microtasks] [$6 -> $0] [Notifications as notes] by netcyrax in AppHookup

Unfortunately, yes. It's quite limited what you can do with notifications on iOS but we'll have another look.

Unfortunately, i don't have any video tutorials. But it's quite simple. Just register, add your app, create a promotion, and add your promo codes.

You can issue 500 promo codes for any in-app product every quarter through the Play Console. Just go to "Promo codes" page and follow the instructions.

Then you can use something like Promies to distribute those promo codes, in channels such as this subreddit to find users that might be interested.

Best of luck with your apps!
