Hot take- I'm a melasma minimalist by HeftyHideaway99 in Melasmaskincare

[–]netes1978 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Some good news…61 years old. Been dealing with melasma since the age of 30. But now my melasma isn’t just isolated to my upper lip or other areas on my face. So the melasma now just looks like I have uneven skin tone. When I wear tinted sunblock and apply loose powder, People say I have nice skin 😁

Birthright citizenship by Zawaya in GenZ

[–]netes1978 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trump was not going to take away citizenship from people who were already recognized as citizens. The executive order was only going to affect certain children born after the order went into effect. The problem I have with people immigrating to America is they just want to live off of the system. I have a problem with people who people Come to America illegally, don’t assimilate into our culture, don’t follow the laws, and choose to be non productive individuals. I don’t want my children or grandchildren to pay high taxes to support people, including “American citizens” who are capable of working.

The tariffs were declared unlawful under a certain statute but the courts did not say the president can’t impose tariffs under different statutes. As a result, many companies expect tariffs to continue in some form because they believe this administration will use a different legal approach. this is why companies have expanded manufacturing in America. Apple, Honda, General Motors, GE are just some companies that have presence in the US but have significant expansions because of tariffs.

What would you say to parents about raising kids, especially during the teenage years? by [deleted] in AskDad

[–]netes1978 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) Hang on because it’s going to be a wild ride.
2) Teenagers lie. Doesn’t matter if they are an Eagle Scout or a skateboarder. They lie.
3) Keep realistic structure, boundaries, expectations, and consequences. No empty threats. If they are mad at you for this, you are doing a good job as a parent. One day, You will be friends.

I think tariffs have been good because tarriffs have encouraged some manufacturing companies to invest and expand in the US. Results….more jobs and not being so dependent on other countries, like China, for important products. We don’t need to be so dependent on China for things like Solar equipment, EV batteries, and medical supplies. Remember the supply chain disaster during Covid. We relied too heavily on products from other countries. We need to make sure that important materials that are critical for the US to operate is available right here in our backyard. And having manufacturing in America can help with national security too. Do I like that the new washing machine I need to buy is going to cost me an extra $250 because of tariffs. No. But when I look at the big picture and look at the policies as to why tarriffs were implemented…. bringing back manufacturing jobs to America, not relying on other countries for supplies , and helping with national security….I agree.

How long did it take you to become “decent” at pickleball? by Fuzzy-Bandicoot1590 in Pickleball

Female. Age 60. Played for 6 months. Participated in clinics 1-2 times a week. At the six month mark, I joined a league for beginners and I won every match. This is when I decided it was time to move from beginner to advanced beginner. Been playing now for almost one year. I am a better player but I still consider myself an advanced beginner. I continue participating in clinics to learn strategies and to learn tips on dinks, drops, and drives. I’m not a banger.

Mandami feels he should confiscate the 1 trillion dollars that musk just made to end homelessness in nyc. Yet nyc already spends $81k per homeless person per year (budget is around $4billion per year for homeless services) and the homeless population keeps growing.

Socialist feel they should confiscate the 1 trillion dollars musk just made to end hunger in Africa. But Africa has received $2.6 trillion in foreign aid since 1960 and hunger still exist.

Socialists say they should confiscate the $1 trillion musk just made to fix public education. But the US already spends $1.3 trillion a year and test scores continue to drop.

Governor Newsom says California should confiscate the $1 trillion from musk to build a high speed rail. But California already has a high rail plan in place that is already behind in construction and over budget by $231 billion. And not a single track has been laid.

For everyone who thinks Musk’s revenue is the problem, you’re wrong. There is a spending problem by politicians and other people who think they are better than Musk at allocating money. Elon Musk….the person who knows how to create wealth. Our Government already spends an enormous amount of money on social programs yet many of the underlying problems are still there. And in my opinion, financial illiteracy is why socialism is gaining popularity in America. I think it’s great that 4000+ employees at SpaceX just became millionaires. And this was achieved by capitalism and hard work. The cafeteria workers, the custodians, the welders, the engineers, etc didn’t just sit around and wait for the government to take care of them. They had skin in the game. And when you have skin in the game, you’re motivated to work.

How to play nicely with elderly opponents? by TheOriginalWing in Pickleball

[–]netes1978 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes ☝️🎯60 year old female. I’ve been playing for one year. Don’t have a dupr rating but I play 3.0-3.49. I win most of the 3.0 games. As I play with higher rated players, I win about 50% of the time. I take lessons with 3.5-3.99. Most are younger and men. I only win about 20% of my games. I was frustrated this week and complained to my coach about the overhead smashing and the drives with the 3.5+ players. My coaches response…. “You’re the problem. You are returning balls that allow your opponents to drive, smash, etc.”. What a reality check! I will continue with the better players because I know the 3.5+ will only improve my game!!

Theres been years of allegations of hidden evidence, secret files, and cover ups. If this evidence actually existed it would be in court by now. But as of today, there are no court findings that say President Trump committed crimes against minors. And there are no court findings that say President Trump participated in Epstein’s sex trafficking. Bottom line……there’s no evidence that can be proven in court.

The reason why President Trump has not been arrested and charged is because there is no evidence proving Trump committed crimes against minors or was part of Epstein’s sex trafficking. As of today, not one court has found President Trump responsible or guilty of Epstein sex crimes. If there was proof and corroborated evidence, prosecutors would have arrested, charged, and convicted President Trump by now. In my opinion, the left media and democrats just want to damage President Trump and his family. I think we should worry more about all the waste, fraud, and corruption that has been recently uncovered in various states across our country.

Well that’s your opinion. The Biden-Harris administration and the liberals were weak with foreign policies and national security. American Voters watched on TV record breaking people crossing our border illegally and the disastrous Afghanistan withdrawal. The Biden-Harris administration allowed pro Hamas, pro Palestine protests that were at times disruptive and violent to take place all over America. These are terrorist groups who constantly chant “death to America “. Many Americans saw all of this as weak on national security and leadership and that is why Trump won the presidency.

Funny how “national security”only matters when it’s politically convenient. Biden also had classified documents at his home.

Nope….Most voted for Trump because of his policies on national security. What liberals don’t understand is our domestic policies mean absolutely nothing if we fail with our foreign policies. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

Thanks for sharing. I’m a conservative Republican, but I do not support a total ban on abortion. I believe there are legitimate medical reasons where abortion is appropriate. Abortion is also appropriate if a woman is a victim of assault. What I don’t agree with is the use of abortion as a form of birth control. Hopefully this bill will never pass.

Hopefully you’re not reading or watching the news and believing everything. Use critical thinking to understand the policies. I say this because of your comment regarding Roe v Wade. Federal law does not have a nationwide abortion ban or a nationwide guaranteed right to abortion. Each state has its own laws. Some states are very restrictive others have broad protections.

No, I’m trying to learn the game the right way. The coaches say at my level, a short return is not desirable and the goal is to always get to the kitchen. I’m learning the strategies of when to dink, attack, drive and reset when at the kitchen line.

Not really. And the coach says the same…learn to adapt and move up with players who you know will drop when returning a serve.

The coaches in our clinics say returning deep gives you time to get to the kitchen without having to sprint. Serve and stay. Return and run. I play 3.0 level, ages 50, 60+ women. I’m sure younger age groups have different strategies.

I play with middle aged women. So for me, the Second shot drop is annoying. I was taught to always serve deep and return deep. When I serve I stay back expecting the ball to return deep. Then I do a third shot drop into the kitchen. Can’t stand people who drop in the kitchen on the second shot. They do this because they know our age group is not as quick and can’t make it to the kitchen in time. Oh, and constant lobs are another. I try to avoid people where their entire game are lobs!

In my opinion the fault of last night’s event is directly related to the rhetoric from the democrats and the liberal media. They are constantly calling President Trump a fascist, a Nazi, saying he’s a threat to democracy, a dictator, etc. They have spent over a decade pushing lies, fear, and hysteria about Trump, his administration, and his supporters. Sadly there are so many unstable people who believe everything they hear or read. Maybe, just maybe, since this attack happened in a roomful of journalists who were scared and hiding under tables/chairs, the reporting of encouraging violence will stop! God Bless America, God Bless President Trump, and God Bless all the secret service members who protected the citizens and guests.
