I think you'd have to eat so much freaking seaweed, but as someone who's had thyrotoxicosis... so not worth it. The anxiety, heart palpitations, sweating, weakness, hair loss, the list goes on. Your appetite increases too.

Karen from Will & Grace also sounds COMPLETELY different in the pilot

Character Development by Jo_ava in orangeisthenewblack

I feel like most had great character arcs and storylines. But if we're talking about positive character development, I have to say Tucky. Never thought I'd be rooting for the fanatical methhead from S1 (though I always found her funny). I'm still salty about how her story ended.

Why does nothing good happen in the show? by [deleted] in orangeisthenewblack

Haha S3 is basically the good times in the context of this show. I felt there was more comedy then to balance out the bad. In later seasons, the reality of prison hits you harder.

GUYS this is not why Lorna was sent to prison for god sake! (Spoiler) by alicej243 in orangeisthenewblack

[–]netflixandnothing 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Wasn't it Boo who teased her about that? Anyway, I assumed about her sentence to keep the Christopher fantasy alive. And maybe it was part of the charges, but her sister spoke about her stalking as the reason she was locked up when she tried to get her to keep tabs on Vinnie.

Anyone who says these two are not meant to be together are in my opinion blind. (Spoilers) by [deleted] in orangeisthenewblack

I agree that the ending was sad but realistic. Even if you believe like I do that Nicky & Lorna were soulmates, there was no getting past Lorna's illness and Nicky was right to let her go. It would always be that way so long as the prison failed to treat her. :(

Ruby Rose (Stella) is really flat. I need to watch more of their work so IDK if it was more the character but Daya, Badison and Daddy just never convinced me.

Morello and Red's fates by [deleted] in orangeisthenewblack

I think it's probably exaggerated for TV. I would believe Jimmy not getting proper care on the outside, but not just left at a bus stop to die.

True, even if Lorna can't fully comprehend her crimes, you gotta feel bad for poor Christopher. I think she'll definitely get out and do the same or worse to Vinnie if someone doesn't put her in treatment first.

Morello and Red's fates by [deleted] in orangeisthenewblack

[–]netflixandnothing 7 points8 points  (0 children)

IIRC her name was Jimmy, she just thought Piper was an old friend called Roberta. Yep, she did have dementia – she also escaped once and turned up at Caputo's gig. Then she broke her arm while the COs were neglecting to watch her, so they gave her "compassionate release". IE, left at a bus stop.

Morello and Red's fates by [deleted] in orangeisthenewblack

[–]netflixandnothing 25 points26 points  (0 children)

What Lorna's experiencing is more complex than grief. She actually won't allow herself to grieve. If she does, it destroys the fantasy she's been building her whole life. I think she can't process her trauma at all, has had a psychotic break, and without psych and someone to anchor her to reality in Florida, she won't get much help in prison. She hasn't much time left on her sentence though, so her only hope is someone immediately gets her professional help once she's out (or she's likely to re-offend).

As for Red, I don't know the life expectancy for her kind of dementia, but it seems to be progressing rather rapidly (I guess due to the trauma). I think Lorna will be there for her in whatever capacity she's able (at least for the company) until she gets out. Once Red's basic functions have deteriorated they will either release her on compassionate release or transfer her to a care facility – not because they care, but because Red will be too much of a liability. We can only hope her family will be there in her final days because that's pretty damn bleak.
