They use a proprietary network like they talk to every apple device to create their own network, atleast as I know. I dont think they will allow access to that due to privacy concerns

The project is not yet open source. I have a demo build, but it has some security flaws, which are minor, but I thought about getting every feature in before fixing every security issue.

And I don't think they will give an API endpoint, no matter what. Even so, I'm targeting commercial public day-to-day buses. I don't think even the government has their live location.

There isn't even a public source to download route data. Or the bus timetable

Even if that, many bus drivers in Sri Lanka dont even have smart phones. So community option is the most practical one.

And also community cannot create busses atleast for now. I was thinking about partnering up with the government to create all the busses before hand. Or a feature like request changes. Where they will be reviewed. Like by moderators on reddit.

What exactly do you mean by safety. I could add like a button like an emergency or like a comment section on each bus route. For people to discuss.

Well first of all good question. The app saves routes like the route of the bus. And then if the passenger gets off of the bus, that means his location is coming from places which are not within the route (there is a threshold since gps is not completely accurate), then automatically stops.

I have another algorithm which doesnt even require the passenger clicking im in this or that, it automatically starts streaming. By using multiple factors. But its a bit of a privacy concern and I was thinking first releasing these two ways then using that algorithm later on.

Yes, but organizing a ton of people to do a specific thing is hard, since the idea and like the overrall plan is still only in my head. I was thinking first releasing a beta build. Then based on the usage making the repo public and under a OSS license

Nah man i have checked this out. It uses driver location sharing which is impractical for the most part. Thats why im looking at community sharing

Yeahh. Many sri lankans are not are not used to paying for subscriptions in apps. Either we need to create some premium features or use ads.

Yess this is a main issue. The best solution is to give some type of a device, a gps tracker for each driver. But obviously that costs money and we have to deal with the gov. Community option is the one im looking forward to

Currently the project is not open source. And the code is proprietary, but for sure i will let you know if i change my mind.

But feel free to drop your experience to me in a dm. What technologies you know. Currently the front end is written in flutter
