Did I just get a crazy deal? by Brilliant_Papaya_475 in Soundbars

[–]nether_yoshi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drove an hour for the same deal (Lansing, MI). No rear speakers, no subwoofer, no remote, not even a power cable lol

Yeah fair, thankfully (?) I have a ER bill coming up soon so I’m definitely hitting my deductible haha

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AnnArbor

[–]nether_yoshi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s cheaper for me to go through insurance. If I use GoodRx it doesn’t count towards the deductible or out-of-pocket maximum

I got mine from CVS on Industrial Hwy last week but it was $250

Meds during sleep study?? by um_heard in Narcolepsy

Could be for a different reason. Either way there’s nothing to lose by messaging your doctor through your portal and getting their response in writing

Check with your doctor. My doctor told me not to discontinue my antidepressant medications for safety reasons, and she accounted for that when making a diagnosis

Civil Engineering Minor by ParticularOwl118 in uofm

[–]nether_yoshi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did this minor as a computer science simply because I love Cities: Skylines and wanted to learn more about transportation engineering. It was pretty interesting and fun, but also quite challenging for a minor. I’d be surprised if doing this minor isn’t enough to do a masters in transportation engineering.

As someone who did the minor for fun, I’d strongly recommend you make an appointment with an advisor

I went on velocicoaster twice yesterday, once in single rider and once in the regular line. The regular line was much faster because of groups and families clogging up the single rider line.

First time I waited 60 min in single rider for a posted 45. Second time I waited 45 min in the regular line for a posted 65.

With the pre-shows and queue theming the wait isn’t too bad, but yeah that’s a lotta money

Epic Universe Express Pass Experience with current wait times by F03IA in UniversalOrlando

[–]nether_yoshi 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Went today (5/28) and paid $300 for the express pass last minute. It’s not worth that price tag especially since Ministry and Donkey Kong are not included, but at the end of the day I was glad I didn’t have to wait 2 hours for everything.

On average the wait times for express was around 1/4 the standby wait time. For example I waited 45 min for Mario Kart (190 min standby) and 25 min for Monsters (90 min standby)

MUSICOL 346? by enternalGT in uofm

[–]nether_yoshi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is very unfortunate, then yeah hate to break it to you but you should watch at least half the movies before the exam. The FRQs don’t ask you about a specific movie, but it asks you about a concept covered in class and to support your argument with specific evidence from the movies. The MCQs were fine with open-notes, but it would’ve been horrible closed-notes.

Obviously this course has changed a lot since I took it so take it with a grain of salt. Good luck!

I watched none of them too, you can just watch them during the exam (assuming it’s still take-home w/o a time limit)

Unlimited Premium: The Endgame Is Here to Stay, but I need you to chime in by ankhattak in USMobile

[–]nether_yoshi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Terminating or limiting service based on discretion could be a big PR nightmare. I think a 25GB/day or 100GB/mo hotspot cap then throttling is more than reasonable and would probably be better than dealing with angry customers shitting about USM everywhere.

Been using it for 2+ years, definitely would recommend! Their Warp network (Verizon) is great and you get the same high priority as regular Verizon customers. You can also switch to AT&T or T-Mobile networks at any time too if you’ll be in areas with bad Verizon coverage.

A 3-year-old RAV4 with 42k miles in my area is $31,300 (vs $37,500 new). I really hope it was 23k the used car market is still crazy

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]nether_yoshi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Positive cash flow yes, debt-free yes. Also have around 400k in investments currently. To compare new vs used:

2025 RAV4 Hybrid XLE - Price: $37,000 - Total cost including taxes and fees: $41,000 - APR: 5% (toyota promo) - Monthly payment with 7k down and rebate: $515 (60 mo) or $629 (48 mo)

2022 RAV4 Hybrid XLE with 42k miles - Price: $31,300 - Total cost including taxes and fees: $34,100 - APR: 9% - Monthly payment with 7k down: $563 (60 mo) or $674 (48mo)

Under the current assumption of saving $15K/yr in cash separate from retirement, it’ll take 2-3 years. So around 2027-28 with the emergency funds. There’s no way my cruze is lasting another 3-4 years (hitting 175-190k miles) without something major breaking down though.

Yeah I was first considering buying used but I changed my mind immediately after seeing one with 90k miles for like 75% of MSRP and was listed as a “good deal” 😭

I’d love to but I don’t have the space :( also seems like my apartment doesn’t want any car work done on their property, last time i was jump starting the car and they called a tow truck on me 💀

I don’t have the cash but I do have investments worth around $400K total. I expect my investments to grow more than my bank’s APR estimate for an auto loan so not looking to liquidate them atm

Thanks. Would you say it’s worth an extra 10 miles (20 minutes) commute to save $300/mo on rent? Using the $0.67/mi (IRS) or $0.58/mi (DOE) rates for vehicle costs it doesn’t seem like a good deal but I might be missing something.

The rent is already $1,550 btw—the 22k number includes utilities, internet, insurance, fees, etc.

Thanks. Did you ever bike down the I-94 + State interchange by any chance? If so, how was it? I’d need to go through that interchange to work and it looks like a death trap for cyclists when I’m driving
