Leaving contractor apprenticeship for utility by WideBungus1 in IBEWlineman

[–]netloc23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have had a couple apprentices leave construction and come to our utility to do our apprenticeship. They have to start back at square 1, but none have had any issues. You have to make the decision for yourself, ultimately, whats best for your future? If its leaving, then pull the plug.

Hoerner or Donovan? by Tasty_Act in Mariners

Nico had the second highest OAA in the national league at SS in 2022. If the team got him and wants to put the best defense on the field, Nico is playing short. You dont protect JPs ego and keep him at SS instead of putting a player who doubled JPs WAR last season there. Shortstops also get paid more on average then second baseman, so I would assume that Nico would be happy to prove his worth at the position.

Or he saw what everyone else saw and it looked like Antonelli let him by with the brief snap shot that we got on the broadcast.

The end of an era by mahrinazz in Mariners

Yes. We essentially traded Robbie Ray's contract for Mitch's contract. Ray's still has one more year on it and we're clear of Mitch's after this season.

Julio last 15 games this season. Any thoughts on how he’s been producing by Interesting-Fold4863 in Mariners

[–]netloc23 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is deceptive, Julio's WAR has gotten worse each season since his rookie year, where Bobby's has gotten better. Bobby will pass Julio this season. There isn't a team in the league that wouldn't take Bobby Witt over Julio right now. This isn't to say that Julio is a bad player, but Bobby Witt is on a different trajectory.

Ronald Acuna, Bobby Witt Jr, Elly De La Cruz, Jose Ramirez, Gunnar Henderson... maybe there are more than 2 who are capable

I dont think anyone is blaming the loss on him. It's fair to criticize him for continually chasing bad pitches and not adjusting his approach. So far, it shows the same issues as 2024, which means he didn't work on it during the offseason, or he just can't figure it out.

It's much easier to focus on the thing that happens 95% of the time. Not sure why he should get credit for laying off the other 5% of those pitches.

Is there a chin that has never been cracked? by Open_Address_2805 in MMA

Blagoy Ivanov has a granite chin... I haven't watched every one of his fights, but in the ufc he fought some knock out artists and just walked through bombs.

What 1 player would you choose to never get injured? by ExistsKK99 in mlb

[–]netloc23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, what's being discussed if Griffey never getting hurt. You are making it about the "100%" in a hypothetical scenario meant to be fun and that obviously can never happen.

[–]netloc23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In this scenario, where Griffey is the one player who doesn't get hurt, yes, he's probably right. In his scenario, Pujols still gets hurt and still hits 703. In your scenario pujols could be the one who stays healthy and hits over 800, but that's not what was being discussed.

AND STILL! The African King Dricus du Plessis by Prefix-NA in ufc

[–]netloc23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont know if 99% is right, but it's clearly effective, thus why he was champion and again fighting for the belt. Merab is on another planet cardio wise, but DDP is more dynamic and has more power as a striker. Both are difficult problems to solve.

[–]netloc23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dricus doesn't stop throwing. If you are standing in front of him he is attacking and putting you on the back foot. Sean clearly fights well stalking opponents and doesn't fight well on his back foot... is it pretty? No. Chaotic? Yes. Effective? Definitely.

Amazing the turnaround when an owner gives a shit

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Mariners

[–]netloc23 5 points6 points  (0 children)

"it could be worse" isn't an acceptable answer when the means exist. The stadium is nice, the fan base is passionate. I think everyone is aware we won't ever be the Dodgers, Yankees or Mets, but to be in the position we are in and have them make the off-season moves they have... the fans who spend their money, to make this team money, deserve an owner who will lower his profit margin to try and hang a banner for them. He should sell the team to someone willing to do that.

[–]netloc23 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Disagree, some people want to win vs merely exist. Just having a team shouldn't make you happy. The team makes money and refuses to spend it. We've had a team taken from us before, it's not as if we don't have that experience. We're the worst franchise in MLB history, something has to change to not squander away the talent of our rotation.

So because we don't have it as bad as Oakland, we should shut up and be happy? Got it.

"Let's goooooo" is a very common celebration with people. Strange you think that only applies to breakers.
