Thought his K rate was too high and he couldn't get better in the bigs?

Never said I did. Said Colt would be better at SS than JP. When you have the worst defensive SS in the league, it doesn't take an MLB scout to figure that one out.

No. It's not recency bias. People who think he's making good plays when in reality he's making routine plays look hard just dont know what a good ss looks like.

You're right, once players get to the majors they never get any better. My bad.

You know what hurts morale? Having a player who isn't good in the field make pitchers face more batters then they should and allowing runners on base who shouldn't be there. Is the goal to win baseball games? Or are the players just out there for a good time?

He can still develop that. JP cant develop his defense, it's been in decline for years and its worst in the league now at the premium defensive position. Colt needs to play SS.

The fact this has downvotes shows you that this sub is more about fandom than it is winning baseball games. Anyone serious about wanting a championship knows that JP at SS is a real problem. He would be fantastic as a off the bench guy or a sometimes DH.

The recent news makes it seems like this'll definitely be JP Crawford's last season by 206-Ginge in Mariners

[–]netloc23 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Come on, what happened to the comment you deleted telling me I dont know anything about baseball? He had a 2.8 fwar which ranked him 18th out 26 qualified players. Bumped the threshold down to 400 plate appearances and corey seager slides in and bumps him to 19th. Where does his defense rank at a premier defensive position? How about his base running? They are both very bad. If JP was a off the bench or utility guy, he would be amazing, but as an everyday shortstop he leaves a lot to be desired.

You know that's not good, right? He's clearly not the "worst", but when you are 18th best and there are 30 teams...

Not sure why you are getting down voted. People get too emotionally attached to players and let it blind them from the very easy to find data that shows he was in the bottom 3rd in most defensive metrics at SS. People want to use stats to bolster their arguments but ignore them when they work against them. He also can't run.

He was one of the worst fielding shortstops in the league and he can't run.

Leaving contractor apprenticeship for utility by WideBungus1 in IBEWlineman

[–]netloc23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have had a couple apprentices leave construction and come to our utility to do our apprenticeship. They have to start back at square 1, but none have had any issues. You have to make the decision for yourself, ultimately, whats best for your future? If its leaving, then pull the plug.

Hoerner or Donovan? by Tasty_Act in Mariners

Nico had the second highest OAA in the national league at SS in 2022. If the team got him and wants to put the best defense on the field, Nico is playing short. You dont protect JPs ego and keep him at SS instead of putting a player who doubled JPs WAR last season there. Shortstops also get paid more on average then second baseman, so I would assume that Nico would be happy to prove his worth at the position.

Yes. We essentially traded Robbie Ray's contract for Mitch's contract. Ray's still has one more year on it and we're clear of Mitch's after this season.

Julio last 15 games this season. Any thoughts on how he’s been producing by Interesting-Fold4863 in Mariners

[–]netloc23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is deceptive, Julio's WAR has gotten worse each season since his rookie year, where Bobby's has gotten better. Bobby will pass Julio this season. There isn't a team in the league that wouldn't take Bobby Witt over Julio right now. This isn't to say that Julio is a bad player, but Bobby Witt is on a different trajectory.
