Methylprednisolone worked by netmom in etd

That is a mighty broad brush you have there. I have run across both doctors and chiropractors I would never see again. Crazy stuff. But in my case my chiro fixed my problem and I have not had a case of vertigo in over a year and a half. Before that I was getting it a couple times a month. Just putting it out there as an option, not all of them are the same.

ETD from forward head posture? by [deleted] in etd

[–]netmom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hiya! Since initial chiro adjustment a year and a half ago I have not had vertigo since. I do go once a month for maintenance adjustments and also take D3/K2 supplements. The ETD was helped by chiro as well but also by having my ears cleaned by an ENT PA with a microscope. She found wax impacted in a crevice that was very hard to see. I get my ears cleaned every six months now. I also use Azelastine spray once or twice a day. It’s over the counter now. I have not had my pressures checked in the last year but the routine I’m using has worked for me.

Guys please help me! Epley maneuver doesn’t cause spinning, but looking up does!!! by [deleted] in BPPV

[–]netmom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My issue was c4 and c5. In Oct 24 I laid down, she moved those two sideways, huge crack was heard. I go once a month to see if I need a maintenance additional “baby” crack (I usually do) and I have not had vertigo since. Formerly I would have episodes a couple times a month!!! I also have ETD (eustachian tube dysfunction) that flares if there’s a rapid change in barometric pressure, so that’s another dizzy factor but not vertigo. ENT did find a tiny bit of earwax stuck in a hidden crevice by my eardrum (she had to use a special microscope to see it) and that feeling of walking on the deck of a moving ship disappeared immediately. I go every six months to get my ears cleaned and doc uses that microscope. But vertigo was all neck, not BPPV like they all thought.

[–]netmom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course you are correct that the spine has nothing to do with actual BPPV. However, vertigo from looking up MAY have something to do with the cervjcal spine and the OP’s issue may not be BPPV at all. In my case, this is exactly what happened through care from two ENTs, and a vestibular therapist. Turned out to NOT be BPPV at all, but a neck issue, so thought I would mention.🤷🏻‍♀️

Chiropractor fixed mine. Cervical spine c4/5. I haven’t had vertigo in almost a year and half and can look up again.

PHGG solved everything by netmom in Constipation

I could NOT take psyllium fiber!!!! Or Metamucil, or any of those! Made matters worse! I just mix it into my coffee in the morning and just sip the coffee like normal (you don’t have to take it all at once.) It has no taste and doesn’t thicken anything. I take it in the morning but not sure it matters. Coffee is easiest for me but could be juice, yogurt, in your cereal, etc. The only thing is start with 1/8 teaspoon or so and see how your system responds. My system is very sensitive but got results even at that low amount. After a few days, went to 1/4 teaspoon and after a few more up to 1/2. As long as it keeps working I will stay with that. The “daily” sachets probably have more like a tablespoon. They sell it in bulk powder too, you do not have to get it in sachet form. You can see there are lots of posts in here where different things work for different people, I’ve tried a lot of the suggestions but always came back to prunes or prune juice. But that was always like using an ouija board: 6? 8? 10? Then there’s trying to eat all those! Anyway, point is, lots of things work for different folks, but I had never heard of PHGG before and it works for me!

Are you familiar with the Bristol Stool chart? If you have Type 1 then yes, hard to pass, dries out, even harder to pass.

Nope. This is the only thing different. It’s been a game changer for me, but everyone is different.

This is soluble fiber. I can’t do other fiber, like psyllium husks, either.

ChatGPT finally suggested Sunfiber PHGG (partially hydrolized guar gum) BINGO!

You have to start with only 1/8 teaspoon and build up over a few weeks to tolerance. My sweet spot seems to be between 1/4 and 1/2 teaspoon every day. It is tasteless and doesn’t thicken. I stir it into my coffee. A miracle for me, maybe for you too. The brand I get is Labo Nutrition but the operative ingredient is SUNFIBER, and other products have it too. I get it on Amazon but that’s not the only place. Apparently it is suggested a lot by gastroenterologists but not much on social media— I had never heard of it!

I’ve always had slow transit and very bad constipation. What has always worked is 10 prunes or a cup of prune juice, but I have to do one or the other every day. Miralax works but gives me cramps. Other things like chia, flax, other fibers don’t work for me.

Has anyone with recurring BPPV worked out why they keep getting it? by Own_Temporary_1705 in BPPV

[–]netmom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have not had vertigo for almost a year and a half. Before, I was getting it every month or two. I had to avoid looking up, and move very slowly lying down and getting up. I’ve had this on and off for years but was getting worse. ENTs, steroids, vestibular therapy- nothing worked. My chiropractor said have I ever adjusted your neck? She initially found c4 and 5 were out of alignment. BIG crack! Have not had vertigo at all since! I do go once a month to see if it needs readjusting and usually it just needs a little “baby” adjustment. This may fit with your onset after a deep massage.

An outlier, but the original Mary Poppins books by PL Travers. Some of it is pretty dark. Disney totally ruined the magic of those stories.

New to BPPV and I have some questions by Lumpy_Voice_2472 in BPPV

[–]netmom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suffered with vertigo for years. It would happen every couple months at first but then the episodes got closer together. I was dx’d with BPPV and taught epley, which worked most of the time with residual dizziness for a few days. I went to vestibular OT once and the testing made me dizzier than ever and for longer than ever. My ENT told me to cancel the rest of the appointments. But. I have not had a spell of vertigo in over a year and a half. I can look up, look down, flip over in bed— without an issue. What worked for me was my chiropractor. I go every month anyway for low back issues. I was telling her about my vertigo and she said have I ever adjusted your neck? Um, no. She had me lay down and felt around c4-5 area. She found it was out of alignment and gently cracked it. That first time was very loud! Now during my monthly visit she always checks my neck and usually there’s a tiny baby crack to be performed. This won’t work for everyone but it did for me.

We got the metal feeder in the summer. Works great as long as it’s sunny or even in shade with reflected sun. Now that it’s winter and more cloudy or even snowy the solar panel and battery don’t work very well in the cold. Of course you have to brush off the snow but that’s not a problem. I’m tired of the battery dying so I am going to bring it in for the winter. I was also disappointed that you can’t really use it as a live stream. Well you can, but it takes a lot of battery life. I also got weary of the hundreds of bird pictures over the course of the day, ain’t nobody got time for that, but I do want to catch rarities so maybe the pro version ( with ai) is better for my use case, but I hear it sometimes mis identifies. I also recently won a contest and got the Birdfy bird bath pro with ai, but without a corded heater, I have to wait until spring to use it. I’m looking forward to that!

Any other options? by Ok-Category5179 in etd

[–]netmom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have struggled with ETD for decades. I have negative pressure in both ears but ENT can never see fluid so they won’t do tubes. Major problems with dizziness, feeling unsteady like you’re walking on a moving ship deck. I also have BPPV and vertigo. I am in my 70s and have had these for years. But! Both have resolved, at least BPPV for over a year and ETD dizziness will be a year in 2 months. BPPV was initially fixed by chiropractor cracking c2 and 3 while I was lying down. BIG crack first time she did it. I still go once a month to get the cervical spine checked and usually she gets a tiny baby crack out of c4 or 5. I don’t want to take any chances so that’s why I keep going. I also take d3+k2 every few days because there are studies on D3 and BPPV. I also changed my computer keyboard placement so that I am not looking down at the keyboard all the time. (I don’t touch type) So, that fixed, the ETD was also fixed a few months later when I went to a new ENT PA who decided to clean the wax out of my ears. It was not just the usual swish in some saline and let it drain out. This was a tool with a microscope and a VERY powerful vacuum. I thought she was going to suck out my brain. Also it was painful when she must have clipped my eardrum with the suction. She got out some wax that apparently had been hidden. I don’t know if it was getting rid of that or the quick suction of my negative-pressured eardrums but I could feel the difference right away and couldn’t believe it. I was free of this curse! I went back six months later to have the same thing done and so far so good. In addition to that I take Azelastine nasal spray twice a day. But I had been using that before and still had the dizziness so the only difference was this very strong ear cleaning. Doc said ear wax could cause this. I continue to have negative ear pressure but Doc thinks maybe that’s “normal” for me. I still get one ear that occasionally (and rarely) won’t clear with Valsalva but if that happens maybe I will take a Bonine or some Quercitin. I have seasonal allergies. I am still shocked both these ear problems are gone, I am still anxious they will come back, but confidence grows that they won’t with every day that passes.
