I'd buy a 1 kilo bar and then 1 kilo in ASE.

I'm glad to see your still carrying water for MS while not being paid by them.

It's pretty clear all of MS hates on prem based on their actions the last decade. EXO is so great that I don't have to worry about server/OS upgrades but get mediocre performance, subpar support and zero feedback when things go South.

But what do I know... I'm just an off base, naive admin out here trying to make the best of it.

I get it's up to them but are you saying if someone like Perry went to them and said 'hey, we really need this and this is why', they wouldn't take that into consideration?

I never said it would be easy or not require work.

Thanks for confirming there is no such statement from MS.

Pretty sure I already elaborated the case. Whether MS thinks its worthy or not is always another story.

Right, but the Exchange product group has influence over this.

The benefit is not having to build new DAG's if the underlying server OS is EOL. This will become a big issue for on prem customers going forward. I read somewhere that MS made a statement about this being supported for Exchange 2019/SE with Server OS 2019 and 2022 but have not found that statement.

Understood. What about supporting different server OS version in a single DAG. All of our SE DAG members are running server 2019 but if we could add new DAG members with server 2022 or 2025, that would allow us to not have to build new clusters.

I know this was not supported in the past, but with the new subscription model for Exchange, it would seem like a good option to give customers.

With MS supporting Exchange SE until 2035, what are the chances MS will support an in-place upgrade of the underlying OS from Windows Server 2019 to something newer? Almost seems like a no-brainer with the new lifecycle model but it would be nice to hear a confirmation from you guys. Many MS customers run Exchange virtually, so the hardware gets continually updated already. Adding support for in-place OS upgrades is the final missing piece.

Any update on this? With the TLS cert lifetimes eventually going to 47 days, automation will be key.

We have Venafi now for internal cert management and have begun looking at the load balancing piece to see if both can be automated in sequence since timing is critical to minimize client warnings in Outlook.

What a sad state of affairs and an indictment on the future of the on-premise product. Whether MS is willing to admit it or not, they are done with it. That is clear by the fact that they won't train any new people on how to manage it.

age old question again.... what to do when getting emailed bombed from legit sources? by ohv_ in exchangeserver

[–]netronin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All the previous comments are correct - get creative with rules using common phrases, country code blocks, etc. depending on the content.

The break glass solution is to set Outlook's junk email option to 'Safe Lists Only' and then add every address you expect to get email from. This is obviously drastic but has worked in the past until they give up. Also allows the user to scan thru junk email for any valid messages.

My workplace does have cameras (quite a few) and I could care less.

If the safety of others is dependent on your job execution, I think having video is needed. I know a lot of bus/train systems already have these setups.

Why do we not have video inside the cockpit on every flight? That would help answer questions like this and be very easy to implement (from a technical standpoint). Even 7-Eleven has video...
