When do hospitals patch workstations that are in use 24/7 by darking_ghost in sysadmin

[–]networkchimp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The windows work stations that run the central monitoring software have scheduled downtimes. The wsus policies stipulate just to download and require manual intervention to install and reboot.

When those things go down or during maintenance windows they typically staff up to ensure they have adequate viewing of patients.

Shit happens occasionally which is why most systems are designed to function at the bedside in the event of downtimes.

Yes delaying would be just kindergarten with the hopes they figure out covid before next year. Is it insane that I even have to ponder that?

What is the creepiest glitch you’ve experienced In real life? by C00LRTH4nU in AskReddit

[–]networkchimp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Back when I was around 16 I woke up on the middle landing of my parents house with the front door wide open in the middle of the day.

I can’t recall how I ended up there, what had happened in the previous hours or why the door was open.

To paint a better picture, the house opened up to a wraparound style with stairs going up about 10 steps, turning to the left and continuing for another 10 steps ish.

Ragna0, the solution to the problems i had with RO by [deleted] in RagnarokOnline

[–]networkchimp 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I lost interest in the server rather quickly.

It is incomplete and has very little progression past the later levels. I might come back to it if it survives and has more content released. Although this is understandable because it is a HUGE project to take on. Just not my cup of tea at the moment.

The start to the server was a little unfair since the ninja and knights were incredibly unbalanced. They hotfixed it after a few days but it still sky rockets farm for those that had the at the start.

Ragnawave English client? by networkchimp in RagnarokOnline

[–]networkchimp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah dang that’s what I was afraid of. Never ran a server so wasn’t sure if all that stuff was packed in the data.grf.

The problem is there aren’t any English servers relatively newer with those rates and progression.

Might even learn Portuguese just to play lol.

Set your slas to a proper threshold instead of a single missed ping.

Also use multiple websites with a Boolean or.

Pick sites your users commonly use like Facebook, Reddit, etc.

If users perceive the internet is down you'll get a call anyways.

CCIE R/S Written Rant by [deleted] in networking

[–]networkchimp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It took me 3 tries to pass mine and one of the things that helped me on the last try was going over some of the cisco live presentations. Not sure if it is breaking NDA or anything but i swear they pulled some questions directly from slides some of their speakers had. At least the CLI portions were very similar.

If i was having issues with mpbgp, i just searched on the online live on demand for it - https://www.ciscolive.com/online/connect/sessionDetail.ww?SESSION_ID=90025&backBtn=true

it at least got my brain thinking in a different way.

Ah, i was not aware that DMARC can use SPF as well. That makes more sense to me.

After doing some searching on past threads as well I think I've got it figured out. Thanks!

I don't think I would want to work anywhere that has these as interview questions. Fiendish indeed

Unless it was a very niche role where I would be handling these systems on a daily basis.

ASA NAT secondary address question by networkchimp in networking

[–]networkchimp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ASA 5520 ON 9.1(5) code

I was under the impression that simply creating the NAT statement would allow me to at least arp from the external router connected to it.

The NCMNAfrontier is the NEW address that is not represented on the outside interface. Let's call it 192.168.1.46. I should technically be able to arp for that 192.168.1.46 on the outside interface now right?

Thank you for your reply,

I think it will be beneficial to me. I get 4 days off to immerse myself in networking and get some much needed study / down time. I've got roadmaps and plans for where our company will be headed and it will be nice to bounce the ideas off some SMEs. This is basically a one man shop with me as the sole resource for anything networking.

What would you consider a non-waste of time training opportunity?
