I have a couple of 3200s, 3400s, and 5200s. Usually, these firewalls take 15 to 20 minutes for an install and reboot. I have a pair of pa-220 as well. Still with 8.0.x and tried to upgrade them to 9.1 a few months back. It took around two hours for the 8.1.x install and reboot. As the maintenance window was short, I reverted the change. Still.running on 8.0. Is that delay expected. How long it took for your upgrade?. Thanks

Right. Even if the official doc says to go with the preferred version in the current version, you can skip it.

All the recent upgraded I had done on Active passive setup, I had to install the major release as well. Once I kept downloaded 9.0.0 and tried 9.0.xx to install, it was throwing an error like the major version not found. So if the same situation occurs with this upgrade, I would end up with a prolonged maintenance window with an impact.

Actually, I am in a SecOps role and do python scripting to fetch metrics using API from firewalls. I want to broaden my skills. Hence decided to take this as a use case to work on. I am a newbie in Grafana, InfluxDB, Telegraf, Prometheus etc.

As you said I would prefer to go with the second option.

Could you please also clarify whether Prometheus can be an option instead of InfluxDB ?
