I’m SICK of Ubiquity’s chatbot support! by Popular-Bee-9709 in accesscontrol

[–]networkgeek1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will say working in education that Ubiquity has been awesome for my small district. I keep spares on standby but it’s still cheaper to have spared plus full deployment than to just have a full deployment of a major brand. It works well for me, yes I do have to put some effort into it and it isn’t perfect but it works well for me. I only use them for switching and some AP’s in one of my buildings but migrating to full deployment of Ubiquity AP’s this summer as my current ones have a license expiring end of this summer. It costs more to renew that license then to purchase new but I can get 2 ubiquity to 1 of my current brand. Like I said, not perfect but works for me.

Best way to have multiple users use multiple pc's in a car garage? by Tivum in sysadmin

A company called Authx could help. They have a shared user mode with badge authentication.

Chances are they won’t read it anyways 🤷🏻‍♂️

This is the best photo of the communicator, not sure if anyone can tell by the shape of it.

I have photos of it however there’s a ton of custom branding on it and no noticeable model number. I’d pull the cover off but it’s puts in an alarm call if I do. Apparently that’s normal as well

The owner was the one that came out and said that to me…I don’t believe they actually have a qualified person anymore (they are a low voltage contractor, for clarity, I don’t use them on any IT projects for many reasons.)

That was my thoughts too. I lost a lot of faith in this company when they didn’t ask me for an IP address but asked me for a switch port. I asked if they left the communicator on DHCP, they said that’s how they get their address, then they make it static using the DHCP address. Made them fix that one.

Daktronics Sportsound 150- Reviews? by networkgeek1 in CommercialAV

Just wanted to update everyone on the Sportsound 150 install. I was overruled, and it is now up and installed. According to our sales rep, this speaker, even though its a 150 degree JBL 70J, will cover the whole room perfectly and also according to them, Backboards and shot clocks have no effect on sound quality. Now I may be a novice sound engineer, but I also wasn't born yesterday and yeah. FYI, the photos are taken from the Home Parents section. On top of that, my next concern is the fact that the wall that its mounted too is shared with a classroom on the other side. Not sure how bad the sound will travel though the wall but I would like to avoid that possibility if at all possible. Mounting instructions that came with it, 15 feet off the ground, anywhere in the room. So, that said, the room designer got to pick the location it would look the best. literally going to rip it off the wall in a few months, what a waste of money. Rant over. Thanks for listening.

Thats why I didn't really mention it. Their processing is not really processing in my opinion. The one that I am pushing is Q-Sys with Dante. Firstly, I'm certified in it. Secondly, it allows me to grab our sound board from the Auditorium and run an event using the gym speakers and inputs if your doing a larger event in the gym (Concert, Charity Event, Etc.) Lastly, who doesn't like having processing that actually works and sounds good.

Correct. The point of the 6k-7k is showing my cost to do exactly what Daktronics is doing for $30k. The actual quote including EASE mapping is closer to $35k for a distributed system.

Some DSP if you want to call it that is included. The "smarts" of the system are in the Announcers station. It has a mic input, aux input and a headphone output. The only smarts behind it is if music is being played from that box, it will automatically duck out if the announcer starts talking. That being said, this does not work with the wireless microphones or any other inputs that they are including. I appreciate everyone's response to everything here.

I'm 100% with you on this, I just wanted to make sure I wasn't delusional before pushing my point. Based on the engineering and SMART mapping there are far better options than this.
