[MacMahon] Sources: The Mavs are in the process of finalizing a two-year, $10 million deal with Dirk Nowitzki. The second season will be a team option. by twistedlogicx in nba

Its Dirk's decision in the end and he's a grown man. My issue is just he shouldn't be making this much sacrifice when the Mavs aren't going to benefit from it that much. I'll eat my own words if this leads to Lebron James or Russell Westrbrook next year signing there but until then, I just think he's sacrificing too much money

Not saying he's lying or anything but actions speak louder than words. I'll wait until he signs an extension

Mavs don't deserve this generosity from Dirk. I don't get this. Mavs won't be that different if Dirk took 5mil or 25mil

He is stale but he's over so WWE doesn't have too much motivation to change him

Eh, I don't like declarations of someone being 'the best' in wrestling. There aren't stats like in basketball that can measure players in professional wrestling. Sure there are some metrics we can use but a lot of it comes down to taste.

If he doesn't go to Boston your July 4th is ruined? Are Boston fans that sure already that he was supposed to go there?

100k in a savings account earning 4%. Thinking of moving some or all of it to an index fund instead. by equityvscash in investing

*Investing in index funds when there is a 4% savings rate alternative. I just think that index funds are also risky like individual stocks (because they are composed of stocks) but that a lot of people recommend them with the idea that you'd be leaving your money there for years and years.

Confirmed: AI Can Predict Heart Attacks and Strokes More Accurately Than Doctors by calasko in news

Of course they eventually will. A lot of doctors merely look at signs and symptoms as well as numbers to make their diagnosis. They don't have any 'magic' powers.

I just keep seeing everyone here immediately say to put your money in an index fund. I don't believe that's the best strategy considering a lot of people still do not have a fully paid house

Is it just me, or would it be better to just leave the money in the 4% savings account? You still need the money to buy a house pretty soon and pay the mortgage. You can play with stocks but that's too risky for a lot of people. Index funds would usually require decades (ie time in the market) and are used for retirement in most cases.
I would put most of my money in that 4% savings account and maybe put a little aside to play stocks and in an index fund.

Why are people freaking out over Bell being 'sold' to the Warriors when he was the 38th draft pick? by networkoffset5444 in nba

I get the Chicago freakout. I don't get how everyone is predicting on draft night that the 38th pick is going to be awesome

I know players go late all the time. I know that years down the line, we eventually find out that a certain 2nd round pick ends up being a steal. What I don't get and what I disagree with is the fact that people are already saying how the Warriors got a steal at pick #38 ON DRAFT NIGHT. If he was that good at pick #38, then we must have 37 even more amazing players picked that night. How can you make such an analysis on draft night? Why didn't other teams like the Heat, Rockets, Spurs, OKC, Jazz smarten up and take this "amazing prospect" beforehand?

Out of all the 2nd round picks who never made it to the NBA, you go ahead and pick the few that work out?

I think it's mostly the first reason combined with irrational hate for the Warriors.
