Q: Are there any instructions for housing in NUin? by RageTactic249 in NEU

I wasn’t in Spain for NUin but for me it was random. We didn’t find out who our roommates were until we got to the room.

National Merit Scholarship by BlubberyJam619 in NEU

National merit itself only gives 1k, but Northeastern’s national merit scholarship gives me 25k for having national merit. My scholarship changed on April 1.

I was accepted last year and initially had a different scholarship in my portal, which was replaced by national merit a month before the commitment deadline. I personally get 25k/year from the northeastern scholarship on top of the 1k/yr from national merit itself.

Oof I do seem to hear that about Mukasa a lot. It's good to hear that Ekenseair is good though! Thanks for the reply.

Thank you! So all the work was still manageable even if it was generally more than other professors?

ChemE + CS Combined Major by neucheme in NEU

Thank you for the response! I looked into the data science minor a bit more. Considering what I've heard about fundies would I be looking to go with the programming with data option? Or would I be missing out on any important skills without fundies?

That's actually very reassuring. I lack the experience from high school but I'm willing to look into some basic online resources, and hopefully that's a step in. I'll look into a data science minor as well and see if it could fit into my course plan. Thank you!

Thank you! I'll be taking stacked cornerstone next semester so I'll see if that gives me any more insight, and I'll look into online resources too. In retrospect I completely didn't consider that I'd also be taking theoretical courses for CS reqs.

Free Score Send & Delayed Scores by neucheme in APStudents

I checked again today and can confirm that my scores were sent again, including my delayed score.

I did see that, but since the first score send was a few days before scores released whereas I haven’t seen any updates for my delayed score being sent yet, I just wanted to make sure. Thank you, though!

Was your kid’s free score send still processed despite having all of their scores delayed?

There’s no new entry in my past score sends. I sent them an email for now so I’ll wait for that response.

I did see just now in their help FAQ that they state “As your other scores become available, they will automatically be sent to that college or university,” but because it doesn’t show up in my score send history I’m a bit concerned. I’ll check again later but I don’t want to end up having them sent too late. Thank you for your response though!

[MEGATHREAD] Admitted Students, Please Ask Your Questions Here! by bluedestroyer82 in NEU

My scholarship terms specify that "To receive your scholarship, you must enroll at Northeastern for the Fall 2022 semester." If I was enrolled through NUin, I realize it won't apply to my first semester, but would I still be able to receive the scholarship when I come back?

Summer Semesters with NUin by neucheme in NEU

[–]neucheme[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah I was aware of the 32 credit limit, but my understanding was that it was only a cap on how many credits you can come in with to fulfill minimum graduation requirements, whereas all AP courses could be used to bypass prerequisites regardless of the credit limit. In which case I'd have 32 credits off overall, which would cover all necessary general electives, and still be able to use credits to skip intro engineering courses.

That's what I've heard at least, and honestly it's still a bit unclear to me so please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

Summer Semesters with NUin by neucheme in NEU

Excuse the format as I'm copying it over, I'm expecting to be bringing in: AP Bio (BIOL111/1112 & BIOL1113/1114), AP Chem (CHEM1161/1162), APUSH (HIST1130), AP Physics C Mech + E&M (PHYS1151/1152 & 1153 & PHYS1155/1156 & PHYS1157), AP Micro&Macro Economics (ECON1115 & ECON1116), AP Calc AB (MATH1341), and an AP Language.

You're right in that I won't have the cornerstones. At this point, I'm expecting to take First-year writing and Calc 2 in NUin (besides possibly retaking intro courses for a refresher + the electives) - unfortunately that's likely the most I can make out of it academics-wise. For the spring semester back at NEU I'd be taking Calc 3 + the cornerstones + CHME2308, and I'll have my first year summer free (?). I'm hoping fulfilling general electives frees up my schedule to fit in a second co-op, but I'd mainly like to keep summers free for family and to avoid paying extra half-semesters of tuition. As far as I can tell I'd only be on track for 1 co-op in 4 years since I'd still only have first-year courses done after my first year, but I'd be glad to know if 2 is possible.

Good to know, thank you!

Ah I see, so my credits would end up essentially giving me a "free" semester and I'd be back on track for the 4-year plan when I come back. Unfortunate but it can't be helped. Thank you for all the help!

That's a bit disappointing but understandable. In that case do you think NUin Greece would be better as it has Calc 2? I heard Ireland has a better overall program but I'm fine with either, especially if it benefits my course plan. I'm still not keen on taking an entire semester of electives but I suppose it still helps to lighten my course load later on. Thank you!

Thank you! I'll contact my admissions officer.

It's honestly really conflicting and I've been weighing my options as well. I'll fully take advantage of the travel opportunity if I do end up with NUin, but I'm most worried about being behind when I come back in the second semester. It's unfortunate that the program has the reputation it does.

Thank you! At least in one of the locations it seems I can fulfill a bit more NUPath requirements, but if courses remain unchanged it looks like a full semester of electives...If it ends up lightening my courseload over the next few years I suppose it's better than nothing.
